| I always took it to be somewhat religious in meaning. Listening to Blind Guardian it seems like Hansi has atleast some interest in The Bible. The moon would be the narrator, and the sun would be The Son of God, Jesus Christ. He's longing for the serenity of God, but maybe he can't bring himself to fully offer himself up or make such a huge lifestyle change. Atleast this is what I've thought, and it makes the song more emotional for me. | |

| This song definately deals with George RR Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series of books. In the series taking the black means you join the Night's Watch to defend the realm from northern invaders. The lion is a symbol for House Lannister. It's "too late to hear the final warning" because everyone in the series is caught up in their own battles and they fail to see the real danger, which would be The Others. | |
