I believe the singer is drawn in two. He love this girl and cares for her, and even though his feeling are real, The ideal of the relationship they might have is not. "And if you come meet me tommorrow, I would hold you down fold you in. deep. deep. deep in the fiction we live." He would be able to indulge the fantasy for a day but it wouldn't be real, and would only prolong the inevitable breakdown of there relationship together. In autumns monoluage she speaks out about "why can't I be what you need, a new improved version of me." And her side is all one why and very self explanitory. But in the reply, I feel he loves her equaly, but he realizes it would never work for what ever reasons that have put differences between them and he doesn't want to cause her the pain of trying to persue something that would never work. I can realate in more then one way and in more then one senerio, and even though the song is so short, I think its the best one they wrote. Amazing song! |

I give credit to all the people who tried to give an explaination to song cause not alot of people did, but i think the song is pretty self explanitory word for word so I'm not going to even try to give an explanation. I love this song and I can relate to it I guess just as much as the other two hundred some odd people who took the time to comment on it. "And it breaks my heart to know that the only reason you are here now is a reminder of what I'll never have. Standing so close knowing that it kills me to breath you in." Sends chills down my spine everytime. Awesome song. |

I completely agree with what ohemgasmic said. It could be about god, or it could be a love song about someone she can't stop thinking about. I didn't really relate it to god before I read everyones views, but now that I'm looking over all of the lyrics, the song lyrics could really go either way. I guess It all depends on what you want it to mean. |

I can't believe no one has commented on this song yet. This song is amazing. I think this song is about a guy who is pursuing a girl who doesnt know what she wants. Ideal But inconsistent as well I’ve become used to Your change in character This girl is everthing he wants, but shes back and forth. And it seems to me that this girl has already had everything she ever wanted in previous relatonships and doesnt know if this guy will add up to what she expects him to be.
