Haha I saw them Oct 30, and Tegan said that everytime she sang this song, she didn't know what one of the "don't ___" lyrics was. So she either would make one up or just go "mmhmmm" and made it a game for herself because she didn't feel like looking up the lyrics. :P silly |

Okay so this is probably way way off but I will just post it anyway. I personally have borderline personality disorder and this is how I interpreted the song when I heard it. I don't feel like it is what it is actually about, but you can look at it this way.
So, the girl has a very low self esteem because she knows that her real personality is hard to deal with and wishes someone would love someone just for her. When she is in a relationship, her partner is getting to know her better and the girl gets scared and pushes him/her away. She doesn't want to, but she can't help it. She is fighting with herself because one minute she doesn't want to be with this person, but she doesn't want them to leave her either.
I guess the other person is getting confused and sick of it, so they stop calling. The girl doesn't want to be alone but is saying that she might end up pushing them away again. "I can't say that I'll love you forever"
anyway... just what I thought.
