i agree with the assumption that this song is about drinking. mostly, drinking for release "cause the paper cuts hurt". Drinking ourselves to sleep is, in my mind, drinking into obscurity. I also think that the song may touch upon the basic hardships of life"have you been crying over your spilled milk?" and how people are helpless to escape from the many small burdens of every day existance, except through alcohol. "swallow your refills" may symbolize people thinking that alcohol will solve the problems they are drinking away. these shots of release are "refills" because alcohol is, in turn, just another problem. But all that aside... this is possibly my favorite song. such power and emotion go in to the performance, its unimaginable to think that this masterpiece could ever be topped. (except, maybe, Vermicide by TMV.) |
