Ahhh oh my God!! I love this song... I bought this album about 2 weeks ago, its so awesome. (Not as good as Transatlanticism, but still very good... A step up from Plans) I agree with what everyone else has pretty much said. As you grow older, you lose your optimism. You're so naive as a child so for most part, you're happy, despite everything. Then as you get older, you get sadder... Because you know more. About everything. A sad fact of life. This song is sung and played so beautifully, even though it's so sad. Although I didn't particularly like The Black Parade as much as their other two albums, I really think this song is the most important on the album. I think its sort of tongue in cheek, but also extremely serious. I live in Australia and while we don't have the teen violence issues as extreme as in the US (or the UK etc) I think most kids in the Western world can really relate to this song. I've just moved interstate, and started at a Year 11 and 12 college. I wear black. I listen to so called "emo" and metal bands. I wear Converse. And I've also had a hard time settling in. I'm not sure if it's cos I wear black, or maybe cos there's 500 kids in my year and they just don't realise that I'm "new". Or maybe it's a commbination of the two. I've never had this problem. I've been to three different high schools and I've always made friends easily... But here... It's different. My mum and step father (who is EVIL) are always making stupid, sarcastic comments on my wearing black. Although I try not to let it get to me, its hard especially when you've got no one anymore. Hey thanks for your comment... I haven't been able to get on the computer for a couple of days, so yeah... Um, I think you could be right about the "egotistic" thing... I don't know if it's a word either, but maybe the guys have big egos cos they've got these "hot" plastic girlfiends? I don't know. I'm going to put egotisic in anyway. I just thought "Plastic girls, plastic guys- whatever, hopefully someone else will comment on it and have some idea of what it might be" so thank you. and the "...nothing to you anymore" bit, I know there's something in front of it, I just can't work it out. Oh my God!! These guys are awesome!! I read about them in Kerrang! -one of the November issues... The article was pretty good, so I thought I'd check them out and downloaded all the songs I could get- which are all of these on this site. I hope they come to Australia soon!! They should come over and play at some festvals or come over with a big band or something, and build up a fan base. I reckon they could be pretty big in the non- mainstream scene... Cos once they hit mainstream, they're doomed. I can't believe they're only like, 17 or so... I'm 16... That's so awesome. Um, this song- lyrically- kinda reminds me of Panic! I love this song. Not my favourite on the album, but I love ALL of the songs... My Chemical Romance are just brilliant. And Gerards vocals are amazing. I love the line right at the end of the song, "I've lost my fear of falling..." That is just fucking brilliant. I'm guessing this song is about being addicted to drugs. Even the title goes with the song. No, it's NOT a fashion statement (some people think taking drugs is "cool" or you'll be accepted if you take them- peer pressure etc.) - it's a fucking deathwish, because you become addicted and it'll eventually kill you (in more ways than just "death"- you lose your social life, family, friends... Yourself.) I've never been on drugs, i've never tried them, but I know people who have and it's really sad. They eventually take over their lives. The timing also fits, that Gerard would write a song about addiction or whatever, cos didn't this salbum come out right about the time he started to get clean? Please tell me what you think. I could be completely wrong. I've read that "Three Cheers..." was meant to be a concept album of "fearing the loss of a loved one..." so I'm not sure if my interpretation fits with that... |

Reading the first few comments of this entire post, people were saying My Chem were "sell-outs" etc. and I hate it when people say that... So their new album got a lot of mainstream acclaim and lots of radio airplay- but Jesus, they're just people, trying to make a living like all other grown ups out there! Their's is just a little different way of making money. My Chem aren't sell outs. Sell outs are people who call themselves singers, don't give a shit about their fans and only "make" music (if you can call "making music" *cough* "singing" to some pop-py shit they've computerised and is totally fake) that will sell or hit no.1 or whatever. Oh, and they usually lip sync at concerts too, just so they can "dance" even though, given the opportunity to sing, they wouldn't be able to anyway... THOSE are sell outs. My Chem respect their fans. Their music style has been gradually changing from the very beginning... How many of you have "I Brought You my Bullets..." "Three Cheers..." AND "The Black Parade"? If you listen to them all sequencially, they've changed, yes- but they've also grown up a lot since then, and been through a hell of a lot, so naturally their music is going to be different to how it was when they first started. |

This is probably my favourite song on the "Three Cheers..." I love the part "I miss you, I miss you so far" It's so beautiful. I love the depth and changes in his voice. It's AMAZING. Absolutely fucking incredible. One of the best bands EVER, I think. I love them. And their ability to connect with the youth of today is unbelievable. The fact that they're basically voicing what many kids aren't (ie: me) cos their parents, friends etc. don't understand- gives you a release. You can just escape through listening to it. O this used to be my favourite song on X and Y. I still remember the Xmas day I got this album. I was hanging out the washing and it was playing in my big, old, dark room. This album is amazing. Last year, as an English assessment task, we were to choose a song and outline it's meaning and the structure etc. I chose this one. Basically, I outlined it to be about unrequited love. He loves her, he wants to be with her, but she keeps pushing him away... She's off somewhere else... Maybe mentally? Like, in depression? "You belong with me Not swallowed in the sea..." Maybe she's hopeless and upset and can't seem to get out of this... feeling. He just wants her to see that he can help her, if she just comes back to him. There is hope. Does anyone else think they sound a bit like Radiohead in this? I know they're a different genre of music, I guess, but that's immediately who I thought of when I heard of this... I love the Interlude. While the difference between the songs before and after Interlude isn't really noticable, perhaps the songs' stories themselves have different meanings? I don't know. I love the whole Interlude thing some bands put in their' cd's... Panic! At The Disco did, with A Fever You Can't Sweat Out- but their' transition is very noticable as they go from dance music to classical- like, instruments and stuff... The Killers also have an Interlude and Exitlude for their' album Sam's Town- and it's really beautiful. It's basically the same song, the Exitludes just longer and the whole band join in singing as well as with instruments (the Interlude is just Brandon on ther keyboard). |

Um, I think this song is probably about being in prison... Just going by the title and all the references; the gunfight in the first verse, getting sent to prison for it, and then wrapping it up in the end, all the abuse they get, the fact that his mother can't look at him the same way anymore etc. with "Take it like a man". But then, maybe it's just a metaphor for the Gerard/ Bert kiss everyones's on about. Kissing another man= homosexuality in prison, in a much more extreme and abusive way... I don't know. Others have said it's about when he went away for two years, when he was 19, for the church service thing. I haven't looked into, maybe I should? But like many have stated before, he could be speaking subjectively, like he has with many of his songs (Midnight Show, Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine, Where Is She?... And many others...) And, I was just wondering, does anyone else see an eery similarity between Brendon Urie (of Panic!) and Brandon Flowers (of the Killers)? ONE: They're both frontmen of "rock" bands TWO: Both were/ are of the same religion THREE: Both from Las Vegas FOUR: Both EXTREMELY good- looking and have dark hair and eyes... Maybe it's just cos I like them and their bands so much that I read a little too much into things... But does ANYONE agree just a little on what I've said? |

Oh I love this song! Not to be all teeny-bopper-ish or anything, but Panic! are really good... I love Brendon's voice- especially at the beginning and he says it in a sort of sexy/ sneaky/ whispering kind of way and it gives me goosebumps... Boy, I would LOVE to be the girl exchanging body heat in the passenger seat with him... How could any girl give up any of those boys? They're sooo cute and adorable and sexy and young... But probably too OLD for me... Anyway... This song is definitely about his (Ryan's) ex cheating on him... What with him asking "Is it still me that makes you sweat? Am I still who you think about in bed, when the lights are dim and your hands are shaking as you're sliding off your dress?" - they've obviously broken up, and she's sleeping with other guys. She wants him to think she's over him, not in remorse for what she did, but he knows that she still thinks of him, hence the sarcastic rhetorical questions in the beginning. "Then think of what you did and how I hope to God he was worth it..." He's referring to her and the guy she was cheating on him with... He hopes she thinks that the other guy was worth their relationships end. "I've got more wit, a better kiss, a hotter touch, a better fuck, than any boy you'll ever meet, sweetie you had me..." He obviously loved this girl, and wants to make her feel the regret of her actions by saying (And she knows it) that he was better than the guy she cheated with. "Girl I was it, look past the sweat, a better love deserving of, exchanging body heat in the passenger seat" He wants her to see that behind all the sweat, HE was worth loving, but she blew it. He wants her to think back to when they were together and doing just that- exchanging body heat in the passenger seat- ie. sex! Then it's "No no no, you know it will always just be me..." He's saying, Um HEL-LO darling, Oh Boy Have You Screwed Up. Then the chorus, maybe he means, Come On, Let's Revive This Relationship? ... Look past the temptation and testorone just this once? Cherish the lover you've got, Hold Them Close? "Oh now I do recall we were just getting to the part where the shock sets in and the stomach acid finds a new way to make you get sick..." That whole verse is basically just about the aftermath- of what she did. Like, she now wishes she hadn't done that. She' lost him. It was a mistake, what she did, but its too late... And so on... I've basically said what everyone else has said, so sorry guys... Butg if by any chance someone has actually read this- please comment! |

I love how he goes from "God Bless the daylight..." in the first verse, and saying how good and pure their' love is, to- "God Damn the black night..." in the second, and it changes from innocence to adolecence love and temptation and the need to be with each other... It's such a beautiful song, the girl he wrote it is so lucky. I wish a cutie band like them would write a song about me. Oh well, I'm still young, it could happen... LOL... |

Hey- I'm playing it now and I was like, "Mum, this is the song i was talking about!" MUM: "This isn't the Killers?" ME: "NO! It's Kisschasy- Do-do's and Whoa-oh's! The young Aussie band..." And she's like "Oh yeah, they were going on about the radio not playing their song on the radio station and then they played it constantly" And I went "Huh? I didn't know that" I thought she'd gotten confused with Opinions Won't Keep You Warm At Night, what with massive cardboard heads of politics and she said, "Yeah, go listen to it again..." So I did, and I came on here and looked at the lyrics and who would've thought, Mum actually does know more than me... (Sometimes)... (And only on very limited things, such as this misfortuanate understanding of a simple song... Whatever that means. I don't know what I mean...) ANYWAY... I really wish people would post more often on bands like the Killers and Death cab and Kisschasy cos they nearly don't get enough recognition for the music they make... Oh and I agree with Smavie on the whole "... so HIP you'll play it on your station..." thing.. |

When I first listened to this song, I wasn't really paying attention, and my heart skipped a beat when he started singing... I thought it was about sex! Like I said, I wasn't listening, but the whole "...We slide from top to bottom" and then "...The squeaking of our skin against the steel has gotten worse..." But Death Cab aren't really as straight forward as that, even We Looked Like Giants, though obvious to what its about, has hidden meaning... But this song is great... I love it when he gets to the "And it's strange They are basically the same So I don't ask names anymore" bit and his voice and the music changes... Its great. I've loved Death Cab since Seth Cohen and the OC introduced me to them (as to the Killers- GO the Killers!) and I got Transatlanticism (even if I can't pronounce it properly)... Come people, POST SOME MORE THOUGHTS UP HERE! |

| I definitely agree that they're geniuses... My friend gave me a cd with Sam's Town and Hot Fuss on it, and I'll admit, 6 months ago I wasn't a massive fan of them... I knew a few songs, I thought they were cool, but now I listen to them every day and I think they're brilliant. I saw them in concert in Sydney and I sang every song (my voice kept giving out by the 3rd...) and I wore they're t-shirt and my Cons and I didn't care if people thought I was the most un-cool teen around... I WAS AT THE KILLERS, so who gives a flying f--k! | |

Oh and another thing, i was just wondering if on Sawdust, does he sing the "Help me out I need it, I don't feel like f---ing her no more..." or is it still "touching"... i haven't got Sawdust just yet, that's all... Cos in the live versions (i've seen on YouTube) he swears. And how funny, they basically started out on The OC (how little were they?!! They looked so young!), and now- they've lasted longer than the show itself... i think probably more successful than the show ever was, too! I LOVE THE KILLERS |
