Bikini Kill – Liar Lyrics 14 years ago
What Kathleen had to say about this song: "I was living in Olympia among so many nouveau hippies who were, like, `Energy goes both ways, man. Women can oppress men, too.' Or, you know, I was always hearing that reverse sexism argument. And that frustration, I think, came out in that song, having Tobi scream over it."

Instead of "I'll play the second set and the sense walk out again", I hear "I'll play the second side of the Slits record again".

That's interesting. I had a feeling this song had something to do with Buffy. Where did you read that?

I've read that it's about Kim watching either the Swans or Black Flag.

I think this is about feeling like you share a special connection with a musician/band ("I know you, I'm from you) and feeling like they speak for you.

The person in the song feels like the music takes them away from where they are now, but also knows that this feeling is only temporary ("I dreamt that you were my vacation/woke to find desire and dislocation").

Kim makes references to Alice in Chains and possibly Blind Melon ("little girls are bees") as being the bands that inspire this person.

I first heard this song in a short film by Sarah Polley called "I Shout Love". I'm really glad I took the time to find it because it's a really beautiful song with beautiful lyrics to match.

"throws her mini off in the halls" = "blows M-80s off in the hall". This song is partially about Becky Wreck, drummer for the Lunachicks.
