| It's been said above me various times, but yeah, the song is obviously about being self-confident no matter what others say about you. I first heard it in middle school (junior high, that is) and even now, post-vocational school, out on my own in life, this song still chokes me up. Don't get me wrong, I'm not just another Christina Aguilera fan raving about how awesome everything she ever does is, but this song - whether it is hypocritical of her or not to be the artist singing the song - is powerful and meaningful, and even years after first hearing it can still give me a slight boost in confidence. | |

| As with many people, this song has a very personal meaning for me. I'll describe my own interpretation briefly. On our way home from court years ago, my big sister put on a mix CD to help us relax after one of the most emotionally trying, mentally exhausting ordeals of our young lives. This song came on, and I broke down. I realized she was my Wonderwall. No-one feels for her as I do, or ever will. And throughout our lives, time and again (and again and again and again), she has saved me. I feel that she saves me in some small way every day and I don't know how I would make it without her. It hasn't been all positive, though, with her. Such as the second verse, she fell out of favor to many during certain periods, even briefly with me, seeming not to be able to do anything right. But I was still beside her, and still loved her just the same. She will always be my Wonderwall. | |

| To me, this song has always been about a girl who is kind of a groupie, or maybe just a slut, but she always ditches her famous boyfriends or just her average boyfriends to hang with this guy, however, she's never had a lasting relationship, always flings and that kind of thing, but he feels chained to her, like a friend who's in love with another friend and watches her date guy after guy. He wants to be out of this "chain"ed relationship, and to love other people rather than waiting for her so he starts to avoid her, but she doesn't get why he's doing that. I think the line about her being 17 but too old for him is just his way of saying "too experienced" because he wants a real relationship with someone, not just a fling. | |

Though the general consensus on this song seems to be that it is about a bad relationship, I always interpreted it as song about drug addiction, though I know that's probably wrong anyway... "I liked having hurt So send the pain below Where i need it" The addiction is a painful thing, but he needs the drug, and needs the pain that goes with it. "You used to beg me to take Care of things And smile at the thoughts of me failing" Personification of the drug while he's on it - he's all fuxxed up so he will fail when he tries to "take care of things" though he feels the drug is mocking him for this. "But long before having hurt I'd send the pain below.." He knew it would be painful but he ignored that fact, and he would "send the pain below"... "Much like suffocating" How he feels while trying to get off of the drug once and for all. "You used to run me away While laughing Then cry about that fact till i returned" He would feel driven away from the drug and try to break free, then feel the pull back toward the drug as he is addicted. "I can't feel my chest...anymore Dropped down Closing in" Again, his feelings while trying to get clean. Also, in the video, SNOW is another term of COCAINE, and it's this guy failing again and again trying to do something right. I know this isn't the real meaning but that's what I always interpreted it as... |

| Its been said that this song could mean soul mates and forever love and following someone "into the dark" of death. My personal interpreation comes from a good friend of mine dedicating this song to me. I almost cry/ actually cry each time I hear it because of what my friend said to me after letting me hear the song. She said, "Whatever we do in life, whatever ends up happening after we leave [our Center], I'll follow you into the dark. I love you." She didn't mean that she was in love with me or that if I die, she'll be there with me. She was saying that our friendship was pure love and no matter how bad things get, how unsure we are, she'll be there with me. She doesn't show emotion very often especially love, so this was particularly moving for me. | |

Okay, i am able to fully embrace that, based on the fact that I used to have no friggin idea what the hell this song said, I am one of the innumerable people this song is directed at. I think every person who posted in here that they think the lyrice are "blah blah" instead of "this that" or "etc. etc." need to realize the same thing. You've obviously missed the point here. Also, to every person (and there are many of you) who posted something akin to "LOL you guys are dumb it's 'simple'" or "Dumbasses it's 'sensible'" or whatever - no, no, you're the dumb one. Stop being arrogant, you have missed the entire playing field, not just the target, here. We're all retards, deep down. Embrace it already. And for the record, giving this song a SongMeanings page kinda ruins the whole "who knows the lyrics and who doesn't" argument point often present among "MSI fans" because now even the biggest noob can know what the song is saying. :( |
