The song seems to be about the world changing and becoming more built up against his will. The first verse is kind of the horses and cowboys on the plains. Then pretty soon he is in a trans-am. The verse ends about how they won't remember it. I think it kind of boils down to how everything advances and becomes built up; sometimes the past gets lost in that. Not sure about any of that- just the way it seems to me.

I think it is just about the tough time Anne had in the annex. She mentions several times in her diary that she was loud and noisy to keep from thinking too much and becoming depressed. This song is the one break in her optimism.

I think it is a reference to Anne finding a friend and a love in Peter, they sit at the window with the sun on their faces and she is overwhelmingly happy despite all that is going on.

Well, I think the two headed boy is a reference to the two Peters that Anne loves. Anne dreams at night of the first Peter she loved and him touching her cheek in her dreams is when she first felt love. It seems to me that in this, the second part, Jeff Magnum is saying that he also loves her. So part of the song he is relating to Peter and his love for Anne.

I agree with groundflower. The only thing is that in Anne Frank's Diary it mentions her father at one point running out into the street with a knife looking to end it all. So the "dad would dream of all the different ways to die" part references her father I think.

It sorts of seems to me that this would be a continuation to the first song on the album. Being after seeing your ex, you realize that even though there isn't any love, there is still something. So they go at it one more time to get it out of their systems so they can move on. They both know that is what it is, so they are both doing what they want to get it all out.

I am pretty sure this song is about the death of his abusive stepfather, and how after learning of his death (finally) he can't help but think of a happy memory amongst all of the rotten ones... Like seaweed in Indiana sawgrass.
