I'm glad other people saw it as being about he mistress as well.

This is the first song on Cassadaga that I really fell in love with.

And the line "Oh, I’ve made love, yeah, I’ve been fucked, so what?" I always felt was about how not all sex is the same. It can have weight and meaning "made love" or it can be purely physical "been fucked"
but i like ThickLykePuddin's idea about being fucked meaning screwed over.

the whole conor kurt comparison thing makes me think of a conversation in the perks of being a wallflower. i haven't read that in a while but i'm pretty sure they're actually discussing kurt and how people compare him to bob dylan. and how the problem is that artist come out with something completely new and you CAN'T compare them to anyone else. i guess it's true. and like comparing apples and oranges.

i personally think that kurt and conor are both amazing, but you really can't compare them. they've done completely different things.

oh and btw, someone mentioned emo. REAL emo music is good. early emo developed from punk. Jawbreaker and Sunny Day Real Estate are fantastic. what most people consider emo is whiny pop.

and lastly, what annoys me more than anything on here or any page with conor's music is people that cannot learn to spell his name! seriously, if you're going to go on and on about how much you love him and how wonderful he is (and he is) then how bout spell his name right! god.

it is not connor. or conar. or coner. it is CONOR.

Bright Eyes – An Interview with Conor Oberst Lyrics 18 years ago
prewritten*

and i think this quote basically sums up the concept of the interview

"Some of the answers in the interview are honest," the real Oberst said, "but a bunch is bullshit, mixing truth with falsehood and making it blend together in a surreal sort of way. It's not intended to be a real interview, but some people think it is."

well then it would be a sheet of paper or whatnot with questions on it. a script implies all dialogue is prewrittien. meaning both the radio announcer's and "conors"

but regardless, that about the scripts would signify that the whole thing is a joke...at least to some extent.

it's at the end of an attempt to tip the scales.

i think it's kinda annoying how often people repeat what's already been said on here.

but, yeah, if it weren't majorly obvious that this was made up already, you can just look at the last part of the "interview"

Conor: You should write your own scripts

Radio: Yeah, I know

noone's pointed that part out yet, but obviously it's made up sense it's a "script"

Bob Dylan – Like a Rolling Stone Lyrics 18 years ago
i actually really do believe that this song is about edie sedgwick, and just like a woman probably is too.

because in just like a woman he sings "With her fog, her amphetamine and her pearls." and edie sedgwick was a heiress who died of a drug overdose. and speed was her drug of choice.

but if you read up on edie or watch Factory Girl you can't help but think this song is about her.

i definately agree with the edie sedgwick theory.
especially because of the line, "With her fog, her amphetamine and her pearls." which would make complete sense, the pearls representing a heiress and debutante, the fog drugs, and the aphetamine also drugs, specifically speed which was her drug of choice.

i specifically looked for this song so i could say exactly whar mrs-mojo-risin just said lol. those were my exact same points. weird.

but in addition to that, the line in conor's song you are the roots that sleep beneath my feet and hold the earth in place, "I met you through a common friend
In the attic of my parents' house"
kinda makes me think of neely. maybe. i don't have as much support for that thought, but just the idea of them living near eachother and hanging out in eachother's houses and what not.

i just have to say, the "rich white lady" refers to heroine not cocaine. it has to do something with a velvet underground reference to cocaine. but i forget what song it comes from.

yes, conor drinks alot, half his songs reference liquor.

"I get my whiskey from a well, except on holidays then it's on the top shelf"

"I’ve got a flask inside my pocket we can share it on the train
If you promise to stay conscious I will try and do the same"

"Now I'm drunk as hell on a piano bench"

and i'm sure everyone can find a million more alcohol references, including "She sits and stares into her mixed drink
Telling everyone she's right, well, she's right" which is from the Park Ave. song My Sick Complainant

in addition to all that, 7 years ago when Conor first came to South Carolina he got beat up and mugged and then got completely shit-faced and called everyone dirty rednecks on stage. luckily, recently (and i have no idea why)he decided to come back. and i got to go see bright eyes! :) anyways...

noone's answered the question about what other songs neely jenkins sings with him on.

and the answer is...
pully my hair as well as both versions of happy birthday to me (Feb. 15)

and Tilly and the Wall and Park Ave. are both fantastic bands!
