I think it's about the pain that one goes through when a relationship doesn't have closure....she's unable to "bury" him in the ground, and she "should have left [him] dead"....it says that he was obviously upset when the relationship ended because he was in love with her, but now she just makes it worse by going back and forth. I don't know...that's what I thought....I basically got that the main themes were: pain, break-up, closure (or lack of in this case), and some damage that can't be repaired (i.e. the pain that he experienced when he was dumped). |

i don't think it's just as literal as it sounds...that he's just sleeping around w/this woman bc it's the only woman he can get... i think the song's more about desperation, isolation, and despair than anything...he just uses the sleeping thing as an example. the whole spider web is what i think, a metaphor for being tangled up by what he knows is bad for him...he doesn't wanna finish anything, meaning he can't break off from what he knows is bad for him.... i've been in a similar situation, it sucks....you know what you're doing is wrong, but you're so damn lonely and at a loss, you just can't stop what you're doing. i LOVE this song though, and the guitar riff is haunting and beautiful at the same time. |
