this song is based on two different things. one is obviously about jeremy dalle, in which eddie got the story from a news article he read; and the other was about a kid named brian that eddie went to school with it seems that we already established the story about jeremy.. here's where the brian came from to answer earlier questions such as the one ccdevlin asked: in eddie vedder's words , "I actually knew somebody in junior high school, in San Diego, California, that did the same thing, just about, didn't take his life but ended up shooting up an oceanography room. i am a die hard nirvana fan and the first thing that stuck out when i heard this song were the references to come as you are adam's song: "i took my time, i hurried up, the choice is mine" come as you are: "take your time, hurry up, the choice is yours" also once on mtv, they were having a special on nirvana bc the unplugged session was coming on dvd. they were playing a bunch of nirvana videos and several other artists spoke about the influence nirvana had on them. tom was there with angels and airwaves and he talked about how he admired kurt's music and would often rehearse nirvana's hits yeah... sorry about my input it wasnt really helpful, but bc kurt's my hero i had to post this :P |

it seems that no one can get over the line "love is suicide" and i am there apart of 'no one.' at first i just loved how corgan sang it, but when i realized that i was singing along to a man telling listeners "love is suicide" im thinking "holy crap this song is deeeeeeeeep" i may just be a kid but i think i am mature enough to realize what love is [or at least what it isnt] and how shallow and desperate people are whom seek it. people my age tend to think that whoever they go out with are the person their gonna spend the rest of their life with and thats really strange coming from a bunch of junior high schoolers. this song, to me, is saying that the world has made it part of life to just find someone youre gonna be with and be with them. no need to pay attention to true love. BULLSHIT. relationships are becoming empty now, and most people dnt know it and mistake what they have for true love. i hate to come across the fucking sluts in my class that think every two week relationship is them falling in love. love is something that takes time and contains many emotions that not many people understand. billy speaks to us saying that its so rare for people to truly seek true love. "love is suicide" refers to the hollow love that people go for nowadays therefore hurting themselves. well if youre reading this, and disagree or dnt understand what im trying to say [bc i tend to ramble and not make myself clear] and youre gonna bash my comment, please go easy. im young and vulnerable, and im sensitive when im judged. w.e it means, billy corgan is a monster guitar player and lyrical genius and has made a brilliant statement, speaking to many!! |
