I think the only things that needs to be cleared up is who he's sing to and the meaning of "L". I'm guessing he singing to a close friend and "L" is slang for a blunt. |

I think he's telling two stories that kind of parallel.
He's talking about wanting out of the band because he feels used by the record company and like he's selling out.
The other story is of him breaking up with a someone because he doesn't feel close to them and the only reason they're together is because people don't want to be alone.
The reference to the Emperor's New Clothes means that people will overlook something that is obviously wrong because its easier than facing the truth.
In the chorus he's saying, "If I was scare..., if I bored..., if I was yours... (then I'd be with you), but he isn't any of those so he's not. "You say can we still be friends," is something people say because they're too scare to let go when a relationship ends.
Both themes are about staying true to yourself. |

The song could be about a baby, but it was giving up for adoption, not aborted. "She sold him to the state." Then the song would be referring to two different males, the one she slept with and the bastard (not trying to be mean) baby.
However I think it more likely refers to a political dissident who she reluctantly saves only to turn in later. "Oh, a dissident, a dissident is here," is her crying to the authorities. |

He was dating a girl who knew just what to say to hurt him "you almost always pick the best time to drop the worst lines, you almost made me cry again this time". He basically became a zombie, hardly doing or saying anything around her, just existing "i buried myself alive on the inside so i could shut you out so i could shut you out and let you go away for a long time." He was miserable but he stayed with her anyways. Finally she breaks up with him and he becomes depressed because he misses her and feels rejected. In his depression he gets completely trashed "i guess it's okay i puked the day away". When he wakes up he realizes thats he's much happier without her, but now she wants him back "i guess it's better you trapped yourself in your own way." Now he's either holding out or just leading her on "and if you want me back you're gonna have to ask nicer than that" because for once he has control of the relationship "with my foot on your neck i finally have you right where i want you." |

I think this song is about being a rock star. He's exhausted by it "I'm not around that much, running exhausted and lost," but he can't change things now. Its destroying him slowly "blowing away we stray, wilted". He looks at himself as a sort of jester for the fans "these baubles we've brought." |

I agree w/ alovelyfadeout. Well Thought Out Twinkle is obviously a metaphor for made stars whether its rock stars or movie stars. "it's too early for everyone" is talking about getting old. It also mentions scars & sores which I'm guessing has to do with plastic surgery as well as "find one last flaw and keep it safe and free from harm." |
