| Juanes – Rosario Tijeras Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This song was written for the movie Rosario Tijeras, based on the book of the same name. The story deals with a hitwoman living within the subculture of the sicarios. The song talks about how she was raped as a child, how she killed lots of people, and finally she herself was killed | |
| Juanes – Sueños Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This song is probably about the war that's tearing Colombia apart. He dreams about freedom for prisoners held in the jungle, about peace, to die of old age, to go to work and not worry about whether he'll come home or not, and to have someone to come to every night. | |
| Shakira – Whenever, Wherever Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
For me, this song is about being able to conquer distance with love. On other unrelated notes to the MEANING OF THE DAMN SONG, Colombian women are some of the most beautiful in the world. And her stuff in English sucks compared to her stuff in Spanish. I respect her a lot for trying though. As far as Americans (or rather, estadounidenses?)... we're like any other group of people: A few good ones and a whole lot of fuckups. But don't judge us all on the morons, just as I wouldn't judge all Colombians based on Escobar. |

a more precise translation of the chorus is: Bullfighter, you're the shame of a nation Bullfighter, you're televised violence Bullfighter, you're an assassin by vocation Bullfighter, your profession makes me sick Pretty close though, Locked. The end is a call for us to stop supporting this 'sport' by watching it any longer |

| Ska-P – Romero El Madero Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| about police brutality, as Elimination said, but also about how arrogant the cops are about what they do | |
| Ska-P – El Gato Lopez Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
It's about being punk, dude. Hard times on the street, but he survives and fucks society - he doesn't want to be part of that shit, and instead he resists by taking what he needs and ignoring the police and laws. Everything about him, from the way he dresses and walks to what he does is about resisting conformity |

| Johnny Cash – The Highwayman Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think it doesn't have so much to do with reincarnation, or these personas as actual individuals. Instead, consider each man described - the highwayman, the sailor, the dambuilder, as archetypes of the past. The last part, then, refers to the driving spirit of adventure that will never die, regardless of how the world may change. | |
| Everclear – Nehalem Lyrics | 18 years ago |

It seems by the first few lines that she's leaving because they had a child that died. I don't know if this happened to him, if I'm misinterpreting it, but it would be a reasonable motivation to leave. Either way, every time I hear this song, it makes me wish I was in a mosh pit. I could listen to it with just the instrumentals and be just as thrilled. |

| Charlie Daniels Band – The Devil Went Down to Georgia Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think of everyone here, Crush_Hive has come to closest to the actual meaning. I don't know as much about his inner conflict between rock and country, but the fact that Johnny's fiddle-playing evokes images of down-home country living obviously indicates some sort of allegory...without thinking of the "rock vs. country" part, I would have said that it was a comment on how important southern culture is to those who live there | |
| Jimmy Buffett – The Weather Is Here, Wish You Were Beautiful Lyrics | 18 years ago |

cubbyblues, you had it pretty much right on the nose, except for the fact that by the end of the song, he actually does end up moving away from New York. Less Than Jake has quite a few songs about escaping the 9-5 grind too My favorite part is "If it doesn't work, there'll never be any doubt that the pleasure was worth all the pain". Also, as a side note, the Billy Clyde line refers to a character from "All My Children" who dreamed of moving to the Caribbean |

| NOFX – Last Night Was Really Fun? Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| It's about partying too hard, obviously, but I don't think he's trying to say that shit is necessarily bad, just thinking about it. I've been there before. | |
