Simple yet awesome lyrics. Love this song. To me, it's about these fake people that write "self-help" books like the infamous 'The Game' and that kind of stuff. They "prey" on weak and miserable people that don't belong anywhere. Feeding them their bullshit and turning them into fake-ass clones that live some kind of parody on true happiness. |

Like many songs out there this one holds different meanings for different persons. The most obvious meaning would be that it's about a relationship. This guy loves his girl but their relationship has always been kinda... "frozen". There is little or no passion to it. Anyway, the guy thinks about leaving her but he feels that he must protect her since she is a person with a weak character, or maybe not, but he still thinks that she needs his protection. So he sticks around. But for me the song is about life in general. How it sometimes feels like you're stuck in the same, grey spot and nothing interesting ever happens. So you start thinking about suicide and shit like that. And a conflict erupts between the part of you that celebrates joy and life and the part that is afflicted with depression and makes you feel anxious and inferior. "she thinks she missed the train to mars" = she is depressed and thinks that she has missed out on several life opportunities and feels completely worthless. To me the song is about two friends who went separate ways. I imagine that they were both... "outcasts" at first, didn't really fit in well with others but then one of them got accepted into the "popular" group or something like that, and left his/hers friend behind("Once we were heroes But everything has changed since then"). "You passed the test and that's so good for you" The person got accepted by the "cool" gang "O love will you read the letters I will send to you" Will you at least care a little bit about me still?(the person that got left behind) "Will they let me out to take the test" Will I someday also be allowed into the group? |

One of my favorite Tool songs. To me, it's both about a control-freak relationship between people... and about USA vs latin-america. Why, you might ask? Because of the soundclip in the beginning of the song. It sounds like somekind of native song of central/south america(Peru perhaps?). The government of USA considers central/south america to be part of their "rancho", to do with those countries as they please in other words. They have often used military power in order to "protect national interests"(which means sucking these countries dry of their natural resources, use the population as cheap slave-laborers in the fruit companies, mines etc.). But some american countries have broken free of that "relationship" by armed uprising for example.(Nicaragua comes to mind). This is what the song means to me atleast. |

Though I think that the lyrics in this song are rather hypocritical and pathetic, it's still a catchy and kickass tune. Hope that the band will wake up soon and make another epic album like Follow the Leader. They have become too rich and happy. What Korn needs is some good ol' depression and Jon will be writing cool songs in no-time. |

Right now I can totally identify myself in this song. To me its about those times when everything is just going wrong. You just lie awake at night and hope that everything will be alright the next day, and you had no idea that things would turn out the way they did. This part...
