First of all, has anyone but me noticed that this part of the chorus: "and so am i and we'll pull through together, together and i said that it's been years but i still fear that someone dear will leave me here forever, forever and i said..." is the SAME melody as in "A Better Place, A Better Time"? "Annie's tired of forgetting about today and always planning for tomorrow, tomorrow/ Annie says..." it's just slowed down, but it's the SAME melody! As for what I think this song means, there's not a doubt in my mind that it's about religion. There's not a doubt in my mind that Kalnoky is anti-religion (especially after the new album, Something In the Between), and I think this is about him expressing his dislike of religion. Example... "You say you've got the cure/ But I don't have a disease". He could be saying to religious people who offer the 'cure' (Salvation) that he doesn't think he needs it. "Failing, flailing" could be a reference to the failure of religion in Kalnoky's mind. Example: "If I told you what you had was nothing? Nothing? Yes it's nothing, nothing at all." He's telling religious people that their faith is nothing (to him). This is just my theory. I'm religious but i still LOVE streelight manifesto. Such good lyrics and great music. Powerful messages. |

Great song! Great album. Streetlight Manifesto is definitely sending the message throughout the whole album that they are not religious and think it's just as important to respect what people don't believe as much as what people do believe. And even though I happen to be really religious, I can dig the message. |
