Vanessa Carlton – A Thousand Miles Lyrics 17 years ago
I first want to start out by saying that Vanessa has much more darker, poetic songs than this (seriously, check them out, the lyrics are really amazing!) so don't judge her on one song that she decided to make simple and sweet. She likes to try different things. Respect her for that.
Also, I think she sings elegantly and doesn't sound like a some sort of clone that just waltzed out of Mtv to make a CD that is completely the same as others that had been recorded.

Now, this song has touched a nerve in me because it spells out how I feel right now. I'm (like many others) going to write out how the song makes me feel along with the current situation.

There was this boy who was a good friend of mine, that I fell in love with. I was way too afraid to ruin our friendship by telling him my feelings. School's out, and I'm probably never going to see him again (we're going to new schools), but if I ever get a chance, I'd grab it in seeing him again. I'm constantly thinking of him, and missing him each and every day of my life and always wondering if he's thinking of me, yet, I really don't think I'm good enough for him.

As for the person who asked what these lines meant:
"And I...
I...
Don't want to let you know"
I think that this part means that she doesn't want him to know because she's embarrassed and she doesn't think (like said in the song, "I don't belong in your precious memory") she's good enough for him. Well maybe that's because I'm thinking of the lyrics in my perspective, but that's what you're supposed to do.

Basically, this song is about missing someone you truly loved and pondering whether they like you back or not.
Just my point of view.

Kenny Chesney – She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy Lyrics 17 years ago
I understand if you don't favor country music, but it is not meaningless - far from it.
Have you ever heard the song, 'Concrete Angel' by Martina McBride?
It's probably one of the most sad songs I have ever heard; and it damn well has a meaning, thanks.
Most country music is really fun and is a mood-booster, for sure.
I normally listen to Aerosmith, Puddle of Mudd, Nirvana, The Clash, Metallica and many, many, many other rock bands.
But I also like country because it never fails to get one in a better mood. It always puts a smile on my face.

Anyways, about this song:
I think it's really funny and it makes me laugh a lot.
^_^
The meaning is basicly obvious, though.

Third Eye Blind – Semi-Charmed Life Lyrics 18 years ago
Rofl. I'm so glad I wasn't the only one who didn't understand these lyrics until I looked them up.

Well, everyone basicly stated what it was about. A heavy addiction to Meth and it has etches of sex references.

It's so brilliant that these guys can cause your mind to believe that this song is innocent and how they entwine such an upbeat and optimistic melody to such sober lyrics.
O:
It's hella amazing.

By far one of the most genius songs I have ever heard on a mainstream radio station.

Train – Give Myself To You Lyrics 18 years ago
It's really too bad no one listens to Train anymore...
:(

I have to agree with xtrabiotoxin about the meaning, though.

50 Cent – Candy Shop Lyrics 18 years ago
Music is supposed to be an art... One look at these lyrics show that this is not art... At all. This makes me ashamed, how can this be considered music? Music is art, and I'll say it once more... This is not art. It's discusting, and degrading.

Yes, sex is a way of life. But you have to be in LOVE in order to have sex. Do any of these lyrics have a hint that he's in love with her? No. All he wants is the sex. And that is what makes it revolting. How can you listen to something as discusting as this?

And how many kids go around singing this (or songs like this?). Most of the population (at my school anyhow.) And don't tell me it's their parents fault, it's their fault. They're the ones who choose to listen to it. They can stop, and shut their mouths. The lyrics really aren't that hard to decipher, you know. It's terrifying that thirteen-year-olds listen to this, and even recite a few lines!

This is the definition of music: an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color.

Yeah, in my opinion this song does not fit it. There are much better songs in this world, with much better lyrics.

Well I'm done, if anyone has a problem, feel free to express it in a mature way. If you're just going to insult me, I'm afraid it's not going to affect me in any way... I never put rap music in general down, just the song. Even though I don't nessessarily listen to rap, I just heard this song on the radio while I was switching stations and really wanted to post my views on it on here.
xxxPeace.

Conjure One – Center of the Sun Lyrics 18 years ago
Well this song is most defiantly a love song.

I think it's about a girl who is put down for certain things and then the "men" enjoy trash-talking her for whatever reason.
The violins can be her meaning of tranquility and peace; they're something that makes her happy.

When she sings "They say the most horrible things", it means that the men, were saying horrible things to her (obviously) and when she hears violins she feels at peace. When she closes her eyes, she blocks out the world and is in the "center of the sun" so she can't be hurt anymore as long as she believes that.

And the boy hears all the men putting the girl down and follows them. When it says, "He's out of his head", it means that he obviously is angry with the men for putting the girl down.

And then when the boy sees the girl alone and asks her, "Have you lost your way home?", that gives her a feeling that someone actually cares about her so tells him, or sings, "You say the most beautiful things, just like my violins," It can mean he's made her feel happier, just like her violins.

And when it says, "When I look into your eyes, I am at the center of the sun", it means that when they look into each other's eyes, they both feel at peace and then no one can ever hurt them again because they have each other.

Well that's what I think.
