Protest the Hero – Divinity Within Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is pretty straightforward if you understand the backstory of the concept album, but a new perspective -

If anyone's read the New Testament, try comparing the prison priest to a pharisee. If you're familiar, you'll unlock something interesting.

Between the Buried and Me – All Bodies Lyrics 18 years ago
Lostperfection,
"but when he says "We are just mortal souls, Left to Die" he says how a so called God does nothing to help the human race."

note the line before it:

"Keeper of the stars, I hope to never find
We are just mortal souls left to die"

The inflection of the second line there, when you listen to it, obviously relates the line to the one before it. The voice isn't hoping to "never find" the keeper of the stars. It's desperate, not apathetic. He hopes never to find that the God-like "keeper of the stars" has abandoned him/humanity, but he isn't sure what he believes about it. He isn't sure of anything yet. He lapses into reflection on the human race and his tone is a shameful, or humble perspective of human lunacy... chaos... distortion.... digression
