i sort of relate this song to a (once) good friend of mine. even though its supposed to be a lover type deal, i think of my old friend. she was going through a bit of a rough patch, as was i, and she helped me more than anyone had. she turned me completely around. likewise, i told her "i won't let you down." we are barely friends anymore and it kills me every day. |

i think the key word here is "again." you're breaking my heart AGAIN. she keeps breaking his heart, but then he just keeps getting back with her despite the pain. hence why he begs her "don't ask me to start again" so as to avoid future heartbreak. |

Anyone know the meaning behind "you're not happy but you're funny, and i'm tripping over my joy?" I can relate to it personally...one of my best friends is depressed but has the greatest sense of humor I've ever encountered, and has made me about the happiest person in the world. But I'm puzzled as to what it means in relation to the song. |

I love love LOVE the "oh my god blake" part and especially "that's what she said." I just love how Blake seems serious while he's singing it and Jenny's just singin' carefree in the background. It almost sounds like she's trying not to laugh. |

I think it's about sitting and moping around while everything around you continues to go on. Almost like no one cares about how you are feeling. The world just goes on without you. You're sleeping the days away, just trying to forget whatever it is that is hurting you. I think melancholy is a good word. |

I think it's supposed to be God coming to someone who has fallen away from him..."I gave you my word and I gave you my life"...I think the meaning is pretty obvious here. The "oh child" is a reference to people being "children of God." Good song. |
