I'm seriously thinking about buying a page in my high school year book next year (when I'm a senior) and posting these lyrics, or the lyrics to another Rage song, probably either Calm Like a Bomb, Sleep Now in the Fire, or Bullet in the Head. Maybe throw in an upside-down American flag just for some color... any thoughts about my idea? There's a good chance the school wouldn't let me though... censorship and all that... my school's run by fascists. |

"Tha pen devils set that stage for tha War at home Locked wit out a wage ya standin' in tha drop Zone" Well if pen is short for pentagon, this could be saying that Pentagon officials are responsible for the "war on drugs" taking place on American streets. "tha drop zone" could be where people "locked without a wage" stand around to sell the government's crack and cocaine The "quiet, peaceful dance" probably does refer to the Ghost Dance popular among Sioux Native Americans, who believed that by putting on special shirts and performing the dance they would enter a trance-like state, see the future, and be able to turn things back to the way things were before whites took all their land in the 1860's through 80's. The government became afraid of the dance, and sent the 42 policemen to arrest Sitting Bull, a native chief that helped popularize the dance. One of Sitting Bull's guards shot a policeman, who in turn shot Sitting Bull. The Wounded Knee massacre took place two weeks later. |
