Stars – Soft Revolution Lyrics 16 years ago
I absolutely agree with Pomaceous. And to take what you said one step further, the very last lines are the key to that entire concept of this idealistic revolution:
"And after changing everything
They couldn't tell
...
And that changes everything"

It's like it's the final realization that their revolution may not have been much of a revolution at all.

I can see where all of you other commentators are coming from, however the idea that it is about a love revolution, or the love of music and about the escape through music and love etc. seems a little doltish.

Sufjan Stevens – John Wayne Gacy, Jr. Lyrics 17 years ago
The Bible calls all who are followers of Christ to involve Him in everything they do. Even if the subject isn't specifically about Christ himself, one who lives their life according to the Bible will always be somewhat influenced by the Word in what they do, logically. The main point of Christianity is that mankind is sinful, depraved, and far from perfect, but that humans don't need to be perfect because of God's grace. Whether we are christians or not is irrelevent; Sufjan is and his song runs directly parallel to the christian belief.

As Cities Burn – Of Want And Misery: The Nothing That Kills Lyrics 18 years ago
I think this song is more about anyone that you care for. It's about having a loved one, whether it's a friend or a family member or a significant other, that is stuck in sin. This person is stuck in trouble and you've tried your hardest to save them from their trouble; you've gone through so much to pull them out of the hole that they've dug for themself.

I think that the song is really about coming to that realization that you can't save anyone else, you can only love them. That no matter how much effort you put into someone you can't keep them from making their own choices; they have to change themselves in the end.

So, while I agree that God does give us a million chances, I don't think that those last lines are refering to God. I think that the writer is coming to the conclusion that giving someone a million chances isn't always loving them the right way. That sometimes you have to let someone pick themselves back up for them to come out right.

And anyways, i think there is a huge difference between love and romance; that's why the writer would LIKE to think that that's love, but it's only romance.
