I love that this song starts with "And"
It just makes it feel like this is an on-going feeling for him.
Like this is just yet another love letter he's written her, and there will be more to come... |

It's really bothering me that no one has corrected that it says "like you to stay" not "want you to stay." |

Karen O said something about it being about murder and death on the dance floor, so I suppose the lyrics should be taken a bit more literally? I must say though, I prefer all the interpretations of the ecstasy and rave theme. I love how that fits with the Alice in wonderland-esque nature of the song. |

I was watching the songwriter's circle thing with tegan where she played this song, and she gave this really funny story about how she wrote this song about how her phone plan kicked in at 9 o'clock so she'd spend all day waiting to use the phone, and equated nine with "dark." and then she said "i probably just ruined the song for you." |

tegan said it has pretty much the same premise as are you ten years ago: having the same feelings now that you did when you were a teenager. |

in alternative press magazine, there's an article on tegan and sara and it says sara wrote this song about being stressed about paying taxes and fixing her leaky roof. |

obviously you're not a big fan of either tegan and sara or the white stripes because the white stripes covered it. it was originally a tegan and sara. in an interview i watched on youtube, sara says that she wrote it about moving to montreal and being in this new place, and she wrote it to sound like a kid's song, like a round you would sing in elementary school. |

in an interview i read tegan said that it was about how her windows looked right into the neighbors. but they always had the blinds closed, and she's joking when she says "i spend the afternoon on top of you" because she used to walk around naked because they never opened the blinds. but one day she went by the window and the blinds were open and the people in there were just staring at her, and it was this big hairy guy and a lady, and the lady was crying. so that's what she's talkign about when says "who broke your heart" because it upset her that this lady was crying. |
