Everyone seems to think that "i'm packing plastic" refers to a credit card. I can definately see that...and can't argue against that too much. My first thoughts of hearing that line was a reference to "fake" barbie-doll girls. boob jobs, face lifts, tucks, all of that plastic surgery. It's a common cliche to call people "plastic" when they are too obsessed with material things such as make-up and designer clothes, and therefore rely on those material things to look pretty. I just wanted to throw that idea out there for discussion. |

It is a great song, and a great tribute. I have, however, seen a different versian of the lyrics. I think it should be obvious enough if you just read it through with that idea |

| cubby, I have to disagree. I think what Jon was trying to establish with "glad i never lived near the water" and "glad i never grew up on a mountain", were to establish the philosphy of "keeping the best part of my life ahead of me". It's always a comfort to know that better things are yet to come. This song, is most obviously about him trying to cheer himself up, convince himself to not be lonely, dejected, depressed. He wants to think that there's a better love out there for him to look forward too. Well, at least that is my impression of the lyrics... | |
