Black Electric is a different song... they're both good, of course, but they're definitely different. Davey's attempt at German kind of makes me laugh =P His Spanish (like in Leaving Song pt. II) is definitely way sexier. |

Does anyone know is being said in the soundclip in the beginning, or what it is from? It's too muffled for me to make out, but then I don't have a very discerning ear. I think this song is gorgeous, both the way it's put together and delivered. The synth harmonizes beautifully with the raw emotion in Davey's voice... but it isn't overdone. I like it better when he sings a little lower, too- I think he explored his vocal range a lot more for CexCells. I like =] |

The song's okay, but it's certainly not my favorite. Actually, I skip it sometimes... I think it most clearly illustrates the lyrical dichotomy of BA and AFI. (I know, they're not the same band, but it is the same songwriter, so one would expect some similarities). "So I'll climb on top, and I'll never stop" just seems so dumbed-down (for lack of a better phrase) compared to Davey's usual fare. Also, like Afi887 mentioned, the boys are straight edge, so the overt sexuality seems especially contrived. Like I said, not my favorite lyrically, but the beat and engineering is flawless. Good dancing music =] |

I agree with ChristineZaki as to the general meaning of the song... what's interesting to me is that, from the time I first listened to the CD, this sounded familiar. The notes at the beginning reminded me of another song. I finally figured it out: "Lover I Don't Have to Love" by Bright Eyes. It's not identical, but definitely very similar. The title of that song is almost harmonious with the thoughts behind this one. I love this album... it's got enough beats to dance to, but enough heart and thoughtfulness to listen to while sitting perfectly still. A good balance, methinks. =] |
