I believe this song is about how small choices can affect the world. The first verse seems to be talking about how he is going through his life without a care, not steering toward any particular future. This eventually leads to him changing throughout his life. In the end, he has the ability to kill millions, because of the choices he made throughout his life. I don't believe the last verse has sinister intent, though. If anyone has seen the music video, he doesn't like what he's doing to the people (it shows hundreds getting killed (cartoon)). I had a really good explanation for meaningfulness of this song, but I can't remember it. And now i can't put my thoughts into good enough words. music video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AuK2A1ZqoWs honestly, this song amazes me. I never thought a rap song would be so meaningful. |

I have to disagree with all the above comments. While the song sort of IS about Censorship and the Love of books, I believe it was meant to be about religion. "The church of matches Anoints in ignorance with gasoline The church of matches Grows fat by breathing in the smoke of dreams" It is saying that religion discredits science and ‘true’ knowledge, while they [religion] do nothing but study their fictitious dreams/beliefs. |
