I love Spike, and the Buffyverse in general. But I have one problem about all of his performances in this episode--- He completely loses the accent when he sings! It's bad enough normally (most words he says are not pronounced correctly) but when he sings he just seems to give up on it. Quick tip JM-- It's "Carnt" not "Caant", We generally don't elongate the ends of our words, especially those of us from North London (as Joss says the accent is supposed to come from). I could continue, however whenever he looks into the camera, he makes up for it! |

To me, it's about her rehab experience(s). How she saw the other people there... the line "How are you so burnt when you're barely on fire?" could be wondering how so many of the other people there are so damaged/ hurt when they haven't really lived, they haven't done enough to become despondent. And she sees all of the healthy people and can't bear to be near them--- she has been hurt so much. She wants to help other addicts but she is still one of them. |

Living in London, I can really relate to this song. In my area there have been stabbings in all secondary schools recently, every park and most main roads.... In my opinion it's about Edie Sedgwick.... It's extremely likely that the baby that she was forced to abort when she was hospitalized was Dylan's and, to me, it's about him seeing her afterwoods, looking the same and dressing in her usual style. The line about asking the doctor might be him telling her that he did try and see her at this time but she had already moved on.... However, Dylan denies any relationship with Edie... probably because of the abortion and abandonment. |
