State Radio – Fight No More Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is pretty much completely about Chief Joseph's troubles as the united States basically ran him, along with the rest of the native americans out of their own land. In a famous quote of the Chief's he says at the end, "I will fight no more forever." He also had a few people in his tribe of high rank who were killed in battles against the american troops, one being looking glass. "Some will bleed like Looking Glass." and this trouble that the native americans encountered is blatantly shown in the lines: "we know not of your borders but you push us to your corners, this is not your land. this isnt anybody's land."
Finally, Chief Joseph was able to lead his people in realative peace after he was granted land by the current president, Rutherford b. Hayes (though they had to share with other tribes). He died about 25 years later of a "broken heart."

State Radio – The Waitress Lyrics 18 years ago
I wonder if she got "bad news" health wise..Maybe the call was from a doctor "see her chest rise and fall." I also wondered if this is the same girl as the one in either the diner song or mr. larkin. The setting makes sense, a diner..with the counterqueens, manager and busser. The way i see her being in mr. larkin is because of the line "10 years ago, my wife took sick." They go in order of The Diner Song, where she's gorgeous and meets people in the bathroom at quarter to two, to receiving terrible news regarding her health, to being so sick that the man who would become her husband in that time span has to work off her medical payments.

I'm not sure where Desmond Doss comes into this picture tho, nor do i understand who most of the other names are. But, for those intereseted, Desmond Doss was the first Conscientious Objector to receive the Medal of Honor for serving in the Vietnam war. He passed away in march of 06.

State Radio – As With Gladness Lyrics 18 years ago
In case you were wondering "As With Gladness Men of Old" is also an old Christmas Carol oddly enough. And the chrous' breaks and commas match up almost perfectly to this song's. If youre interested to compare, here's a link to check it out.

State Radio – Riddle In Londontown Lyrics 18 years ago
I'm not really sure why londontown, but it connects with the line "got my back to the fire, my feet on the ground, but it ain't the bridges that are fallin down." in reference to nursury rhyme: 'London bridge is falling down'

State Radio – People To People Lyrics 18 years ago
i agree with the soldiers invading iraqi civilians lives idea and also i think it has to do with some americans, even soldiers may have even forgotten why we were supposed to be over there..though im not sure anyone really knows anymore. I thought of that with the last couple lines of the first stanza. Also, i think its from the person who is being invaded's perspective and how their view of the US has changed in recent times and from recent events to "please dont invade my home" when it used to be "the land of the free and the home of the brave." Also i think the speech you hear in the background is JFK's speech after MLK jr was killed, and that works along the lines of invading others' rights/treating each other unfairly.

I was there too, the somewhat dispatch reunion "tease" was a bit much, though it was a very good performance especially Rash

State Radio – Rash of Robberies Lyrics 18 years ago
This is clearly about a man who has dementia, and how his wife is trying to cope witht he fact that her husban no longer recognizes her. Chad said this in an interview, and though i see the gay rights reference, the song isnt focused on it.

State Radio – Good Graces Lyrics 18 years ago
Great song. It's actually a large reference to the corruption in the priesthood of the Archdiocese of Boston in recent years, "But you were sleeping with the father so that he wouldn't sleep with us kids." and also the previous reference to "don't tell her that it is Sunday"
