"The Blackbird" is a traditional Irish dance song. As noted below, the other lyric is misspelled and should actually read "Mr. Cohan", as in George M. Cohan. |

"Our Lady of the Flowers" isn't a line, it's the title of Genet's first novel. The song is entirely based on it. |

This song, along with several others (Come Back to Me and the title track) on the Under the Big Black Sun album, is about Exene Cervenka's sister's death in a car crash in 1980, and Exene's grief and attempts to deal with the loss. I think this song's specifically about the inadequacy of religion in comforting her ("a powerless sweet forgotten thing"). |

No deep meaning here, in fact the lyrics are somewhat cliched when you read them on a page, but this is truly heartfelt when performed by Steve Marriot. It's about finding love after being alone for a long time ("people who once passed me by will turn their heads 'round"). |

| The Fixx – Red Skies Lyrics

The song comes from the old adage "Red sky at night, sailor’s delight. Red sky in morning, sailor take warning” which was supposed to predict the weather. They either heard it backwards or intentionally reversed it because they thought "red skies at night" sounded better as a lyric. |
