This song is from Relationships Ruin Friendships, an ep. I'm guessing the reason it didn't make their debut lp is that it sounds too much like apr, which is also on RRF. |

I was thinking it was about war, too. It's just as they lyrics say--she longs for the blissfull inncence of youth, and makes a desparate attempt to preserve that in the aforementioned children. |

I'm learning how to play this song on the guitar. I fell in love with it as soon as I heard it. That guitar solo part and the beginning and after the first chorus is just so endearing. It just sounds sincere. |

You can watch them playing the acoustic version on Youtube, where it becomes apparent that Bob sings most of it, then the "Hey, come back to me" part is Greta and the guitarist (the guitarist singing falsetto). |

This song reminds me of a poem I wrote about a woman seducing her bf as he's sleeping. "You came to me/in seamless sleep/and slipped right in" It fits... |

"fuck condoms..." is noted on Wikipedia. In concert, he shortens it to "F-C-P sits gep gep gep." Maybe that's why the remix is called FCP remix....although I do like the "Fuck Condoms PRE Marital..." interp. |

| Cute Is What We Aim For – Risque Lyrics

It seems to me that the prostitute and drug references are intentionally ambiguous. He could be talking about either, or it's supposed to sound like he's talking about that, but it's metaphorical.
"birds in my ears" if he's addicted and trying to get his fix, he may be going crazy, hearing and imagining strange things.
"a devil on my shoulder" he's doing (or thinking about doing) something naughty
If it is "medically speaking", that seems more like a drug reference. This alleged drug could be a prescription drug, or at least researched medically.
"trick me" a trick is what whores call their individual jobs they do.
and of course, "affordable" "pricey" "purchase" indicates a transaction. Drugs? or a whore? "her" and "crush" point towards whore.
"dime" and "lush" insinuate drugs. |

Why do they say "house" rather than "home"? Just because it's traditional for songs to rhyme and it would be easy for them to rhyme the only 2 lines in the whole song. |

MorningView is what got me into Incubus. I thought it was simply amazing and groundbreaking (to me) to hear a song that not only had great lyrics, but was expressive enough that even if Brandon had recorded it in Mandarin Chinese I would have caught the meaning. This song reminds me of a bat. "When I close my eyes/I can see for miles", etc. reminds me of the way a bat is blind, but uses its voice to detect surrounding matter. The instrumental aspect is umistakeably radar-like. |

Maybe he and his wife have known each other/been together/been married for thirteen years.
I also thought it was about when he was 13 years old, but wondered if that was accurate with all the sex. |

| The Fall of Troy – Cut Down All the Trees and Name the Streets After Them Lyrics

Ok, yes, sex, cheating...the first thing that came to my mind as I was reading was sexual abuse. Rape. The narrator's girlfriend is cheating on him, and her secret boyfriend on the side is abusing her?
Looking back it does not look that complicated. It makes perfect since to leave it at "cheating."
The song title appears to be protesting deforestation and industrialization...a.k.a. destroying something beautiful in exchange for creating something artificial. Fitting, no? |

| Evanescence – Heart-Shaped Box (Nirvana cover) Lyrics

I am a big fan of Nirvana.
But I am not going to get into a battle of who's better, Evanescence or Nirvana. I am just going to comment on a song I heard without comparing it to the original.
I think it's the best cover song I've ever heard. I love Amy Lee's voice. My band has covered some Nirvana songs, and after hearing this, I now want to cover Heart-Shaped Box, because I know it's possible for a female vocalist to sing it and sound great. |

The liner notes have "insult the world into a paper bag"
I always thought of it as Brandon, too, can be on the rag. Something about he can get moody, resembling PMS, or maybe he can bleed. Literally or metaphorically. "Fuck this bleeding heart of mine"
Also, it's "this bloody stain of 'I'm ok, you're not ok". Again, according to the cd insert. Maybe that sheds some light onto that whole "on the rag" thing. |

| Third Eye Blind – Motorcycle Drive By Lyrics

I only see 2 comments that talk about the last part sounding suicidal. The first several times I'd listen to this song, I thought that just as it began to sound that way, Stephen assures me that he's never been so alive. He's cool. But now I wonder whether that part's supposed to be ironic. Kind of said sarcastically. Like he's ready to take his life, but "no, no, I'm good....never been so alive!"
"This is the last time we'll be friends again" I insist, that line means that Stephen won't be friends with her again. This is the last time. Reminds me of an on-and-off friendship/romance I've experienced.
I really enjoy all the assonance in this song. To repeat just about everyone else, this song is beautiful. |

Ditto, quietride. Markymarkstyle, if he used suggestive language, wouldn't that have been intentional? So even if Brandon didn't intend to talk exclusively about sex in this song, I think it's at least supposed to evoke those images.
Oh, what I wouldn't give to be intwined in Brandon's hairandskinandspitandsweatand spilled red wine... |

I would say not so much summer as is autumn. "Summer's gone". I made a cd recently with an autumn theme and this song was on it. Then "fallen friends" part makes me sad.
I wish more people would comment on this song, there's so much more to it we haven't discussed! |

Not sure why, but I always thought of this as an incredibly sexy song. I especially like the lyric, "smoke a cigarette and lie some more." I think that "conversations kill" (if the song is about sex) refers to an annoyance towards all the formalities one has to go through occasionally in order to get to the "good part" (Sex) |

Why does "wicked garden" stick out as a euphamism for female genitalia? Maybe it's because of that joke...Anyway, I haven't spent a long time thinking about it, but my vote goes to "it's about SEX." |
