i think that this song is true- perhaps it didnt happen to the writer of the song, but i'm sure it has happened to someone she knows. pen pals and internet friends and such are becoming so wide spread and significant in a lot of people's lives. over all, i think this song is about the timelessness of needing a friend. everyone out there, at different stages in their lives, feels the same emotions- everyone feels anger, sadness, loneliness, isolation, love, hate, etc... and nobody really wants to feel alone. the letter seems creepy because the man was older, but when you look at the simple intentions to just be and have a friend, it's sweet. |
