I tend to see this as written about Islam. "Dig yourself a shallow grave/ Your life is not the legacy of honor you would dig six feet for" Sounds like a radical suicide bomber dying for personal glory from Allah. Also, as Islam traces its roots to Abraham, hence the "stole from the pages of truth" Really, any false religion worships the "Lord of Hate" whether directly as in Satanism or not. As for Despar's comment, DH seems like they are bold enough to say whatever they see fit. They are too bold for my casual listening, but I do enjoy trying to figure them out. |

great post SoccerWes1! I thinks it is interesting how he talks to himself (or at least his sin) in second person. |

I think the general idea of the song is redemption though Christ after a bad experience in life. In the first verse, the car could represent a life that has fallen from ood times into a wreck: "from street to sea." As the person fells around him, he realizes "how cold" the world is, leading to the chourun in which Christ is "drawing near." Any ideas about "Star-crossed tears?" I think star-crossed is a state of bliss, which would contrast with tears?? |
