| Nevermore – Enemies Of Reality Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Yeah. Up to the point everything is a lie. You feeling tired? You've run for miles and your legs hurt and you feel you've lost your breath? Or maybe it's just a lie and you can run for miles more and faster than you did. You feel that something (a pizza pie) is sweet, sour, salty, tasty or not? Maybe it's just a lie as well and it's just how you perceive these things, how your brain interprets presence of particular chemicals, but it's not really true. It kinda pained me. I just watched Inception yesterday. Cheers! |

| Nevermore – The Obsidian Conspiracy Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Blank in your selfish state and enraged Never shall one die that cannot decide the truth Never should one cry, so suffer the children The snakes arrive to assist us around the stage Black expressions is force-fed rage Create, and deny your subverssive wings The obsidian conspiracy is rising Justify your shame The obsidian conspiracy is rising Regardless of the consequence we drown inside our arrogance We choose to bring our nameless to this false place so shameless Never should one die that never could see absolute Never should one cry, let nothing destroy them The blades align, in indifference they feed the plague This black agenda of hate is born of pain Create, and deny your subverssive wings The obsidian conspiracy is rising Justify your shame The obsidian conspiracy is rising The coming waves in silent rage Will storm the sea of glass And in its wake all the burnt remains Never shall one die that cannot decide the truth Never should one cry, so suffer the children Create, and deny your subverssive wings The obsidian conspiracy is rising Justify your shame The obsidian conspiracy is rising The drowning sage can't feed the silence The firestorm can never be heard These are my last words ^ that's the correct lyrics |

| Mastodon – We Built This Come Death Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| The quotation in the begining is from the trial and it is about the experiments of placing men (80 as I remember) in some concentation camp during world war (as far as I know it was Dachau) inside the chambers that simulates 68,000 feet altitude. This means the pressure and the temberature and maybe the moisture too. The few who managed to survive some time in that environment were then placed in the ice-cold water. Whole thing was to see what happens during the crash of an airplane at very high altitude and then drowning in the see. | |
| Opeth – Ghost of Perdition Lyrics | 16 years ago |

To me the song appears to tell the story of a death, as already mentioned, but could easily be interpreted as a story of a demon/antichrist and his mother of course. I could even easily see that both combined. Someone reffered to Akerfelt about the meaning, that the GHOST means the desease and that the DEVIL here means death. However everyone seems to take it only in methaphorical sense, why not to take it literaly, as in bygone days illnesses were usually connected (in people's convictions) to the devil, deamons and god punishment. The first thing that caught my attention was the MOTHER in first lines. As I listened to it I got the impression, that the song is ultimately about the antechrist, omen-evil child that will bring the end of the world - apocalypse. To me the first two stanzas pictire the MOTHER, women, who is obviously sick. The physical and mental illnesses seems to go along very close with her being possessed by demon, as we will further see. However her waiting and lingering death may just mean that she expects someone to come and kill her to stop the devil. The second part of second stanza reminds me also the movie - "Devil's Advocate". The "tragic friendship" may refer here to her being possessed to him (the devil) in physical sense, that she is obsessed with him as a man. The fog here may stand for being "blind" and not seing that everything goes "horribly wrong". Third staza might symbolize some kind of announciation, just like Mary has the news from angel, here she gets it from devil. Especially "cracking the earthly shell" symbolyzes something extremely important and to some extent "official" and grand. The hope here may mean that everyone was expecting the woman to die (as she was ill/possessed) but devil brings news that she will not die and even more - she's pregnant. Fourth stanza appears to me just as the devil/demon that possessed her, or maybe just a child in her, is draining her of "inner light" - hope, faith, etc. Fifth stanza symbolyzes the uncertainty of the future. In sixth stanza comes another straight relation to the illnes (in terms of your interpretation) - darkness, "hunter pulling us under" and all those things goes very well with diseases and death, however to me it's easy to connect it with the apocalypse (hunter pulling US - plural, I think we may even extent the meaning on whole population) and whole this end-of-the-earth and devil things. Faithful servant goes very well to me with the demon that possessed the women and prevented her from stopping the devil in his plan. Also it goes very well with the desease. Seven stanza relates very well to me with the mental illnes and being possessed by demon. "Pages in the diary" might symbolyze here, as in the "Diary of a Madman" the days of being sane and days of being insane. The second part of that stanza goes very well to me with her being hesitant and fighting with the devil and trying to stop his plan and maybe kill the baby or herself. Especially two last lines gave me a strong impression of chosing, importance of her decision, etc. Ghost of Perdition in eigth stanza may very well refer to the born antichrist. The the ninth stanza, "seeing the son" gives me impression of her hard struggle - the child is her son on one hand, so he appears to be most important and beloved thing on the earth to her, but on the other hand she is loaths him and is disgusted with him as a devil's child and bringer of the apocalypse. The last stanza appears to me as the short parable about fate and inevitability of one's destiny, the god's plan (if we consider the devil and god and apocalypse as the theme). And maybe it tells about the danger of one stopping it or changing the route the story goes. In the end - two favours I'd like to ask. - Stop saying it's not concept album - I'm not questioning that, but it's been mentioned here thousand times, why to repeat it more and more? - Don't say "it's not true" when it comes to interpretation. I mean, sometimes the interpretation might go so far from the piece, that it seems it's just rubbish. But as long as someone stics to the theme, what's the point? Maybe they see it in other way? | Nevermore – The Heart Collector Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
The only question remains: 'Is Warrel really for suicide?!' And I think he fuckin' doesn't. And I can't really imagine so positive and emiment melody going with such uneminent meaning. Furthermore, on The Year of the Voyager, as an introduction he says: 'Let me aks all you guys out there in the crowd - you've ever been dumped by a chick?...' blablabla '...You liked it so much, it fucked your head up. You liked it so much, you never wanted her to go away. You liked it so fuckin' much, you let the heart collector steal your soul.' So maybe the song is simply about being in love, not in it's most romantic meaning, but more as an addiction, and then being dumped, and as a conclusion of such event - a strange will not to ever fall in love again. However, although your interpretation doesn't convince me, it's still quite reasonable. And it fits to DNB.. Cheers! |

| Nevermore – This Godless Endeavor Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I mainly agree to bananaphone05 with some exceptions: > "Our organic equation has shown its flaw" > >Answers people have made have no true basis. We >cannot find the answer. I think it's more like traverse to people who say that science is their religion. This lines says "your equations, theories, and all other worth shit" Or it may also be about perish of mankind. >“Abandon naive realism, surrender thought in cold precision” >seems to mean that what his "brother" is telling him to do is to >give up trying to find the answers he is looking for because his >"organic flaw" prevents him from doing so. Or it may be turn into true belief. Don't dig into science, don't try to prove anything, to make crazy theories, just believe. >"Thou shalt not question, the role of science is not to eliminate >god >As alternative gods multiply science stands accused of theocide" > >Science does not eliminate your "God." It creates more gods >because god is mereley your explanation for the "black." As >more and more people create such explanations, "alternative >gods multiply." People think science is theocide because they >believe it eliminates god in people's beliefs. Instead, it just >changes their own description of god. Great interpretation and explenation here.. : ) |

| Nevermore – Enemies Of Reality Lyrics | 18 years ago |

For me, simply, Enemies of Reality is about group of people who think different, who sense different, see things in different way. This could be some very general group, such as people listening to metal in the realm of pop music, but could be also more specific. Digging into the song, thru analisys, you can come to conclusion, that song tells about people who do not accept the world in the form it's massively sold in the world, but who search for the truth. Point of view of this group is often very different than the others, you can trace other songs from album and from other albums, to see the same logic, because Nevermore seem to follow same logic all the time. You have "Ambivalent", "I voyager", you have "Seed Awakening" and masses of other songs which tell about same topic. The logic of drugs takes you the right direction, but not best place. About drugs you can listen for example in "Inside four walls" and whole band tells that directly. For me the group here, which I was talking about, is people who comprehend and understand world in the different, other way. In the Nevermore's way. They have some philosophic ideas about life, about truth, about other people and Enemies of Reality is just people who think in same way as they think. Worms up here is mainly same point of view, but it can mean also songs, lyrics. They give you their hand to take and follow, to "infect" you with their way of thinking, of knowing. And for me it's OK. I am the enemy. I became enemy too... |
