| Sky Ferreira – L-O-L-I-T-A Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| "in a museum" should be "et la musique" ;) | |
| Sky Ferreira – Femme Fatale Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Pretty sure she's saying "they call me femme fa-fatale / the things I put you through" | |
| My Chemical Romance – S/C/A/R/E/C/R/O/W Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I think it's "everybody hide your body from the scarecrow" "we're all alone tonight" rather than just "all alone tonight" "heat burns my skin never mind about the shape I'm in" |

| Kathryn Calder – Arrow Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I think you're probably right, your corrections make perfect sense. (Thinking about lyrics logically instead of just trying to figure them out audibly? Madness!) | |
| Stars Of Track And Field – The Breaking of Waves Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| The first bit is "slo-mo camera man, caught up erased in a frenzy two times that a lens speed sees." | |
| Stars Of Track And Field – End of All Time Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
Small lyrics corrections: Each time it comes up it's "just so I can see the lightning chime/over you" (it's only "climb/over me"). "backslide into a burning sun" "break apart and you're dealt the final blow your eyes turn to snow and don't you realize it's the end of all time" |

| Stars Of Track And Field – Racing Lights Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
BenefitOfTheDoubt is close, but here they are according to the booklet: too much life in you my dear I would sing you would burst in tears now fallen faster oh my god a scene inside a beating heart you see the stars burn out racing lights run for your life your skin ignites won't you shine for me? hardly hanging on so long one deep breath and you're withdrawn without a sound take a deep breath a tear in your eye, I'll sing you lullabies I'll sing you lullabies racing lights run for your life your skin ignites won't you shine shine down, you said you could you knew you should see the parts of breaking hearts and read between the lines you'd ask if I might like to write your name in the sky if you want me I'll be right outside and I might like to wonder how you let yourself get pulled under with every breath you take racing lights run for your life your skin ignites won't you shine |

Hm. Are these lyrics correct? Here's what I think I hear (similar, but a little different in places): a hollow metal arrow fell to the water it must have come down from the past I gave it to you and I watched as my sandcastle slowly was turned into gold it lit up like a beacon the shine was so strong that it took me awhile to adjust it took up my house it split me apart so I found a place on the grass fire away, I'm still here in phantom waves (or maybe "ways," I really can't tell) fire away, I still have my better days fire away, what more can I do but say fire away, fire away a shallow river by the road smoothed the tensions and turned into a skipping stone and me by the shore I noticed that day made me older than I was before you say I'm too sad well I happen to like it I happen to like you to fire away, I'm still here in phantom waves fire away, I still have my better days fire away, what more can I do but say fire away, fire away fire away, I know all your tricks and your foul play won't work on me anymore fire away, what more can I do but say fire away, fire away |

Seconded. Also, is he saying "I CAN'T stand tall" or "I CAN stand tall"? Near the end, I think he says "I fold" rather than "I fall." |

| OK Go – This Too Shall Pass Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I read somewhere that I've already forgotten that it was written with the recession in mind. | |

The rings, they tell me How sickness befell thee The rings on a tree tell about its growth/health during a given year. Maybe? |

| The New Pornographers – Sweet Talk, Sweet Talk Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Okay, I'm totally pulling this out of my ass here, but I think he's using the metaphor of walking down the street in your Sunday suit (i.e., your nice clothes) for spending more time dwelling on something (the "mistake on the part of nature" that's been forgiven) to mean that both are excessive and unnecessary. I don't know though, that's just my guess. | |
| Charlotte Gainsbourg – Voyage Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
It's been a while since I studied French but, uh, here's the LITERAL (emphasis here) translation: journey to the end of the night journey to the end of the night journey to the end of the night wild feathers the mirage kerosene au gris gris* rattlesnake Cadillac human race space life journey to the end of the night (we could go) to the end of the world etc. black guitar razor blade porte bonheur** hang heart vagabond bottle blond scar sacrifice etc. *"gris" means "gray," as in the color, but "gris-gris" is a voodoo talisman **"bonheur" means "happiness," "porte" means either "door" or a form of the verb "porter," "to carry", so, idk here? "happiness door"? |

| A Fine Frenzy – The World Without Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
"And Heloise gave her whole heart to Pete Now eternally sleeps by his side" Referring to the story of Peter Abelard and Heloise, who had an illicit love affair in the twelfth century. They had a son and secretly married, but were seperated and Abelard was castrated by Heloise's angry uncle. Abelard became a monk, and Heloise became a nun. After Abelard died his remains were given to Heloise and the two are buried side by side in the same crypt in Paris. |

| I thought the exact same thing. | |
| Butch Walker – House Of Cards Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
Missing some lines: this house of cards you've built has finally fallen down (and I suppose that you) expect me to come scrape your ego off the ground ... your little costume party's almost over now (you know you better run) alone to mama's house before the sun goes down ... your fifteen minutes are about to just run out (and how do you expect) any of us to take you seriously now? Also I'm pretty sure it's always "what will you do when NONE of them want you" etc. but maybe I'm hearing it wrong :< Anyway I love the new album and this is one of my favorite songs off of it. It's about somebody who talks big because they're insecure about who/what they really are, so they build up a false image/persona (their house of cards) and they won't even take responsibility for the fallout when that eventually comes apart. |

| The Pierces – Sticks and Stones Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
For what it's worth, the spoken part in the middle that starts "I call thee, beloved one," is more or less taken from the so-called Venus Love Spell. The "actual spell" goes more or less like this, from what I can find: I call thee, beloved one to love me more than anyone seven times I pierce thy heart today the magic of Venus starts I bind thy heart and soul to me as I do will, so let it be |

| Fauxliage – Let It Go Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Oh, I am so happy that someone(s) finally got the lyrics for these songs. This album is so gorgeous, this song in particular. I think the meaning is pretty straightforward: someone wants someone else (probably a breakup, the first stanza makes it seem like that), but doesn't think they can make it work because of how they both are. "Every night I drive away from you/I see the mountains I have to move" is particularly lovely and poetic :) |

| Mae – Sic Semper Tyrannis Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
foram: It actually means "Thus always to tyrants." Sic, thus, semper, always. :D It's also what John Wilkes Booth supposedly shouted after he shot Abe Lincoln. Anyway, I agree that this album isn't as good as their older stuff. It was a step backwards for them. Ah well. |
