The song is not ironic. Jack recently went through two major break ups in his life, his divorce from his wife and his break up with Meg and the White Stripes. The fact that song is performed with an all female band represents his on going love and hate relationship with the women of his life. |

Best song on the album IMHO. Such a simple concept too, take a killer riff and gradually slow it down and rip it apart note by note. Never heard that on an LP before. |

This song is not in jest, it's actually displaying the band's love for the indie scene. You have to remember that it was written in 2004 at the latest, which was well before hipsterism became so widespread and commercial, and before the Killers themselves were selling out arenas.
To me this song is almost like a sweet goodbye to the life of the starving artist and the little-known indie band the Killers could have become, and a foreshadowing embrace of what they actually became. |

I agree. I was expecting this album to be another Strawberry Jam where you want to jump around the room and scream along with Avey. Its not. While I still feel that SJ is the better record, as iwake said this album is completely effective, and unlike SJ you don't have to be in the right mood to listen to it. |

If this song had a few samples playing on repeat in the background it could seamlessly fit into Panda Bear's Person Pitch. Person Pitch was widely considered one of the best and must cutting edge albums of 2007, and this song was recorded 40 years ago! |

Upon initially hearing many of AC's songs you can't help but be overwhelmed by how intricate and beautiful they are; and thats without understanding a damn thing they are saying. Then you take the time to look up the lyrics and read a little about the band, and realize just how deep some of these songs really are and how amazing AC is.
On a side note, I actually hope Bear Hug isn't in the new album. I didn't care much for it at APW, but then again, I didn't care much for APW :P |
