Trusting god would be like a juggernaut, like being the tip of a sword in a battle, like being a helpless piece of wood thrown about in the ocean. I wouldn’t be able to claim that I was bound to promises or commitment, I’d just be this raw nerve ending at the edge and at the brink. |

Refuse to feel, anything at all
Refuse to slip, refuse to fall
Can't be weak, can't stand still
You watch your back, 'cause no one will
This is about being so desperate and afraid that you stop being a feeling human being, you stop having the capacity to be vulnerable and let go, which is what faith is. |

i really relate to the chorus because i find that the more i try to be myself and really express myself the more i sometimes make people feel far away.
on a slightly different tack, i like to think that silverchair are on a different road to what they've done in the past. i like hearing big bold songs that everyone can sing along to and feel happy |

i'm pretty sure that most of the lyrics in this song are just random but for the verse which i think says 'will' not 'wind' but anyway it's a cool song. the verse i'm talking about its i need a breath a will so pure |

i really don't think daniel's lyrics can be taken literally. he loves words, he loves colours, he loves contradicting himself, he loves everything that happens when you let go of the rules and see what comes about. but this song was written at a time when he was taking antidepressants and what happened is everything just went flat, and for an emotional guy this was probably a massive disappointment. i was talking to my therapist about how paint pastel princess says 'it's all the same to me' and yet it's a song so full of texture. sometimes in an effort to get feeling into your life, you create something artistic that's more vibrant than anything happy people can create (think christian music in general) |

yeah i'm starting to relate to daniel's lyrics i mean i've always been a pretty big silverchair fan i think daniel's a really good bloke i think his parents probably loved him alot and gave him the strength to believe in himself...he really sort of knows how to give you the fuck u when you're trying to be something you're not. he really values being an individual even if it makes you whatever, like he's not antisocial but he just happens to like being himself. i think he's a rare individuall;.. my true self is actually a lot less liked than the fake self i've been putting out there to be a good citizen like, always helping people,. i don't know if i can do that, as like, a regular part of my life. i kinda feel like a freak when i let down other's expectations and because of that i can relate to lyrics (not of this song especially. just silverchair in general) |

i've always tried to figure out why daniel johns is so loveable. i mean, i'm aguy but that guys cute as. sometimes i get smitten by the guy and sometimes i really wish i was as cool as him. i'm starting to realise that you have to actually not have any idea of who you are, to really be who you are because you're not a robot, you change, and the more you let yourself go the easier it is. i appreciate thats hot 69's comment because he doesn't care if he likes to be other people (or she?). i used to be like that too, i just LOVED cool people and i tried to be like them because it felt natural. i couldn't help it. what stuffed me up is that then i tried to conceive of who i was without anyone else. (|:) i live by the idea that i won't force myself to do anything or be anything or not be anything. i just am |

i'm not a great fan of the song (it's alright) probably pretty good actually, but when i was feeling a certain way i tried to think of songs that matched the way i felt and this one came up, besides coldplay's the hardest part, silverchair's freak, 3 doors down's kryptonite, loser and be like that. some people take on too much responsibility for their life and neglect the part of them that says its right to just be, that everyone can just exist and thats sort of their right, to disappoint people because by doing, you cannot earn your right to anything. either you have it or you don't, and i think everyone has it. it's a powerful thing to happen to you, when you realise it. you just sort of crumble in a bitterseet symphony. |

the hardest part was letting go not taking part. not having preconceptions of who you are and letting youself be different and be changed by expereiences without being stuck in a preconception of who you are, which doesn't really exist. |
