Blue Öyster Cult – Sole Survivor Lyrics 16 years ago
Sounds to me like the ending of Arthur C. Clarke's "Childhood's End"

Evergrey – Madness Caught Another Victim Lyrics 18 years ago
To me this song is about not being able to conquer personal demons. Racking yourself with guilt, shame, embarrassment or whatever, and letting it eat away at you while you try to find a way to absolve yourself. At the same time, not being able to let go and letting your "madness" take over. Ultimately leading down the "coward's path" (suicide) because it's often referred to as the easy way out.

I think you're thinking of "Amaste" It's amazing how much the meaning of a word can change with just one letter's difference.

I wonder if they wrote this song to the "Urotsukidoji" adult anime series... I seem to be able to hear anime girls moaning in the background along with some japanese-speaking demons... If they did, the song is as chaotic as the series is... And almost as hard to understand :P

This song is about hypocrisy, I think. Sounds like it has a "do as I say, not as I do" mentality that Dex is pointing out to his "elders" Like how parents failed at their own hopes and dreams so they try to live them out in their children's accomplishments...

Devin Townsend – Pixillate Lyrics 18 years ago
Fear of changing yourself, even though you know you should. Having comfort in what you are, but knowing you're not who you want to be yet.

Nah, headcreeps has it right. It's a real story about a kid that was preparing to turn his life around. He had made plans for a band, and had all kinds of creative ideas strewn about his room (cryptic writings) He shot heroin one last time before he was to check into rehab the next day, sadly he OD'd and never got the chance. Dave laments about this poor guy in the song, and parallels his own life, because it very well could have been Dave.

According to the realms of deth, it's exactly what it sounds like. A rebel motorcycle gang ripping into town and destroying shit for their own amusement.

This song is about nuclear holocaust and basically mankind blasting itself back to the stone age.

Megadeth – Moto Psycho Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is about people who devote their lives to working, never taking the time for the important things because they're always busy with something else. Hence "Going nowhere 100 miles an hour"

Getting fed up with hypocrisy, self-righteous criticism and misery.

Seriously, to me this sounds like a glimpse into the writing process of one of Dev's songs. Seems like he's trying to explain the lyrical tools he uses, while also explaining that he has to fight for every word. I also hear a couple of references to his bi-polar disorder, and how hard it can be for him to write but at the same time keeping an eye on his own health.

Sending youth blindly to war because the "machine" told them to. Plenty of real life applications for this theory, pick one.

Sounds to me like someone battling with their self. Avoiding conflict, but not living any rewarding experiences and knowing that in order to get those experiences (love, trust, religion, whatever) he would have to get his hands dirty so to speak. To me, the advice of the song tells us to keep moving forward. Realize that you're going to make mistakes. Shit happens, keep moving.

To me this song sounds like the devil on the shoulder... fighting over control of one's conscience and winning.

It's been described on the HevyDevy website that this song is about expression without words. That's apparently what "Namaste" means. When you can't think of words, express yourself in another way.

Sounds to me like it's about atonement... Like he's done something he feels guilty for and wants the person he's wronged to hurt him as a penance.

Devin Townsend – Away Lyrics 18 years ago
I think it's about how things/situations/people change the longer you're away from them. Kinda like catching up with friends you knew from your childhood, and you find out that they're not who you remember them to be, and it's hard to adjust your thinking to that.
