| Just watched a live youtube video of them performing this, and in one of Gord's famous and awesome rants he likens the Dire Wolf to the menacing sea. He was on the nfld ferry, 8 hours at night, and on a stormy evening it can probably be pretty turbulent. ( he mentions lots of gravol and beer) Just a night a newfoundland dog, which were bred to save shipwreak victims, would be in it's element. | |

Does noone else think this song is from the dust bowl (great depression, I guess) that plauged the US in the 30s or whenever? My history is iffy cuz I am canadian. Just look at the references, there are so many. The wild dogs, gone feral because they cannot be fed by the owners, blood dust, dryness, fairly obvious, its a parched landscape. Dad loses his job, the dried up mudlake. Maybe it's too obvious but people really read pretty far into this with the metaphors, but I do think the dogs represent hopelessness and poverty, and the dogs recieve rewards because they are sweet release from suffering. |
