| The Holy Modal Rounders – If You Want to Be a Bird/Wild Blue Yonder Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| The last verse is the official song of the Army Air Corps, aka Wild Blue Yonder, which I guess they included in order to be ironic. | |
| Spoon – I Saw The Light Lyrics | 15 years ago |

After listening to this song closely, I got the feeling that he's referring to the visionary or psychedelic experience...light or the Clear Light is often reported while in these states and I can personally attest to that. He seems to be discussing the realization of ego games we play along with ego-death or ego-loss: It breaks through the walls that bind me It's breaking the walls that bind me And I go out in the world I make my case to the world I sell the world unto the world It asks me back again It calls me Love and holds me tight It peels off them ties that bind me He goes on to speak of the feeling of unity with the world around him that characterizes most positive psychedelic experiences: I don't need a thing to remind me That I'm part of the world And this line probably references that moment of indescribable ectasy and peace that can be reached: I felt so permanently alive Or maybe he's never does psychedelics...but probably he probably has. |
