Guys, I hate to break it to you. But its about D/s. Its about coaxing someone into submission and obliterating their own world (the new world order, if you will)to serve your own, in exchange offering absolute protection. Pet is even a term used for some submissives. Perhaps the Dom in question is 'protecting' his pet from their past lovers and traumas(the boogiemen-- someting scary on the surface, but not able to stand up to true protection) who did not treat per well. Or perhaps said pet didn't fit in well (pay no mind to the rabble). |

. While I will admit to being new to Silversun Pickups and thereby I don't know the context for this piece, i do have a few thoguhts. This song feels like the parioid trapped feeling that social anxiety provokes. There is a wild sense of panic when you're surrounded by a croud and cannot find the exit especaly when you're trying to keep tabs on someone else and you lose them . The panic swich is the escape drug, whatever it is makes it hard to sleep. Alternatly, this drug feels wrong to him, and buggs his conscience, making it hard to sleep.. |

There's one element people are neglecting, that i find critical to this song. "Rats in the attic, toys in the cellar" the phrase toys in the attic indicates maddness, but rats are often seen as melvolant, manipulative creatures. Cellars, or basements ar wher you keep things you odn't want people to know bout. So we have someone who is homocidal, the decidedly bad kind of crazy and his "toys" are his scerets |
