Cradle of Filth – An Enemy Led The Tempest Lyrics 18 years ago
cylent watcher wrote:

"Machiavelli was right, I do want to go to hell, much better company with kings, princes and popes than in heaven with apostles and beggars.

God's a sadist"

I second that and the up the ante by one soul.

"p.s. the British are pathetic and they invented homosexuality"

AHHHHH! That is the best thing I've heard EVER! Oh my god, I'm pissing myself. So now I see the connection... This is why fangirls love gay men AND english men!

I personally hated this genre. I'm an Ani Difranco/Suzanne Vega/Pedro the Lion kind of person. But THIS SONG, for some reason, made me fall in love with this band. I was reading the lyrics for my boyfriend and the more I searched and read for him, the more I fell in love. I'm a sucker for a concept album and COF features a story almost every time.

I still hate most metal, but now my eyes are open enough to see that in any genre there is something you will most likely connect with.

This song is, of course, about a vampire (or THE vampire, whatever) reflecting on his beautiful homeland. Like in that Dracula movie when Mina and Dracula are dancing and talking together.

Cradle of Filth – Babalon A.D. (So Glad for the Madness) Lyrics 18 years ago
First of all, anyone who thinks the "Necronomicon" is something real should do a little research. Necronomicon was a legendary text mentioned in the FICTIONAL writings of HP Lovecraft. Later down the line (sometime in the 1950s - 1960s) some dude steps up and claims he's found it, which turns out to be a big hoax but because of said dude there are a few copies of this "dark summoning" text floating around the world. I suppose if someone believes this strongly enough they might call something up...

Now about the song... I agree with one of the first postings that this is a black metal version of "Sympathy for the Devil". One I like much much more >=}

At the end, when he is referring to a "nymph with eyes for me" I think he's speaking of, that ever so often, there's a dark soul floating out there in the oblivion of his existance that he can relate to and sometimes that makes it all worthwhile...

(gee, it really does give one "sympathy for the devil" since this is how I feel 100% of the time)

Has anyone ever stopped to think that this song was written to Babylon? Not just one woman but the whole city? Like when he says:

"Led to other worlds
By the girls she curled within"

And... I have also thought that any/all love songs written from the eyes of "Lucifer" on this album were never about a single woman. I believe that Dani takes it from a point that Lucifer feels like humanity was HIS bride until the coming of Jesus, hence the song after this one "I thank God for the suffering".
