I'm not really sure what this is to be about really but I love it, first heard it on One Tree Hil and I just had to google it. Maybe it's about being really down and trying to pull you're way through it all. Or maybe it's about someone who has done something bad and they want forgiveness, they want to make it go away and so they try so hard but they can't, it's still there in their head. Or maybe it's simply about the loneliness of the human situation-everyone dies alone. |

Yeah i always thought this song was about death but also about love, maybe how love(unrequited?) can lead to someone killing themself.Or maybe somebody giving their life for the person they love.It seems to me its about setting the other person 'free' and about not being able to stand the guilt because you have hurt the person you love so much.At the mo I am currently in a situation a bit like this si the sogn really resonated with me.
Its such a beautiful song and my favourite version, I love the way it starts off so quiet.So sad when Johnny died. |

I see this song being about the girl dying(maybe through a suicide attempt) and telling the boy that she will always love him and she'll be waiting for him once she's gone.And the boy doesnt realise whats going on at first, but I think shes somehow telling him how to save her and that its only him who can save her.This song means so much, i had a suicide attempt and I was constantly listening to this song and the girl I love saved me(along with this song). |

The idea I get from this song comes from the video as well.I think the flaming building is meant to be symbolic of a girls life and the little girl that saves her is meant to be symbolic of this girls past self.I think its a song about a girl who got right to the bottom of the hole shes in and has given up on herself.She is just waiting and waiting for someone else to come and save her fom herself and I think at the end of the video, she finally realizes that in order for the others to help her, she has to make the first move and get herself out.I think at the end she finally realizes who she used to be and the promise she made to herself so long ago to not give up on herself and that promise is shown as the little girl,rescuing her.Thats just my take on it though but I hope one day I can pull myself out too. |
