am i the only one who doesnt see this song as about a relationship? i see this song as more about coming of age, and growing up and what it means, the complications of life become more apparent which i think is what is meant by the first verse, and the second i think is a reference to the news, especially with the every "half hour is a countdown" and that ultimately theres more to life than facts, and i think that in the last bit hes sort of wishing he could return to a time when life was so complicated, like when you're younger or a child. thats my take on it anyways |

i can't believe how good the whole album is, i thought at first they were just going to be another generic " indie" band, but songs like this prove that they have great song writing skills, both lyrically and musically. i think this song is about a guy ( and from the sounds of it its an experience the lead singer has had) who really likes a girl who was either friends with a girl he really liked or his girlfriend, and they have now drifted apart, due to the singers percieved boringness and is just accepting that he is losing her even though he still likes her, and is basically giving up on it. just an amazing band with great lyrics in their music |

well alms is a type of charity that someone gives, so im gonna go with that this song means that he's saying basically, " you've left me, and not you want me back you want my charity (alms) but no, you left me, ive moved on"
