| Bob Dylan – Talkin' Bear Mountain Picnic Massacre Blues Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| One of the first topical songs he wrote. I love it, its so funny. | |
| Dave Matthews Band – Louisiana Bayou Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| It seems to me a song that might closely lyrically resemble a Bob Dylan, folk song. It tells a story of two boys who got in a bit of trouble for some drug debt. I heard Dave read this story in the paper or heard it from someone. Thats part of the reason i like it. It's a topical song which you dont really see unless you go back to the folk singers of the 60's. He heard an interesting story and wrote a song about it, very beat like. Along the lines of Casey Jones or maybe John Brown. Either way it is a great song! | |
| Dave Matthews Band – Too Much Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I feel like this song, along with so much to say has a lot of connections to dave and his cocaine use. Straight in, suck up and go, cool it, swallow, swallow Breathe deep, take it all it comes cheap Push it through the doors because in between the lines I’m gonna pack more lines so I can get in That whole first verse is about blowing coke, now obviously dave is going to have a lot more meaning to his songs than drug usage but that definitely plays a part in the song. I'm sure he is making comments about the West and our greediness or about sodomy but he is also talking about his struggles with drugs. One of the reasons he plays So Much To Say and Too Much back to back at almost all his shows is because they both comment on his cocaine usage and his struggles. Very upbeat, fast, short songs that he likes to play fast. Both good songs with other hidden meaning but commentary on drug usage must not be forgotten. |

| Bob Dylan – I Shall Be Free No. 10 Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| heart on fire, is definitely right in the aspect that this song is full meaning. Bob has an incredible sense of humor and he loved to write folky songs where he could make fun of himself and others. He makes fun of Cassius Clay by rhyming after mentioning his name. He then proceeds to write a topical stanzas talking about the Russians and Barry Goldwater, pokes fun at the hostile environment of the cold war and political parties. Also mentions Fidel Castro and Cuba, which he loves to do. He mentions him again in Motorpsycho Nightmare just two tracks after this. The rest of the song i dont even know what to make of it. Maybe just a n average day in the life of Bobby! And yes hes just an average guy, says that in the first line and last. That's important to remember. | |
| Bob Dylan – Cocaine Blues Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song dylan recorded on live at the gaslight and maybe another album im not aware of. It is originally a dave van ronk who played at the gaslight as well. Dylan really admired van ronk and often played his songs when he was just getting started. | |
