| Nevermore – The Fault Of The Flesh Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Unfortunately, Brian, this song can be relevant to someone with a religious viewpoint. Ahh, the beauty of interpretation. We can most definitely be fallen from God and God's path if he exists. The context of Ad Nauseam's interpretation is that if he were to exist then we have fallen from him, but we are fallen regardless. Listen to some other Nevermore songs. Humankind is failing and the question of God's existence pops up everywhere. "Can we agree to disagree on the concept of God?" We most definitely can and do. It's just one more of our flaws that will be our undoing. |

| Nevermore – The Heart Collector Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I have listened to this song a countless number of times. I've read into the potential meanings of the lyrics. Only recently have I interpreted it in a way I feel fits all too well. So what do I believe "The Heart Collector" is all about? I believe it represents suicide from someone who suffers from Dissociative Identity Disorder. "To see the actor without tears Dark rivers carve the years between the lines of self control In my psychotic karmic fear, I own your tears anyway And I am you and we are not afraid" The actor (or person who has lived life behind a "mask" for too long) no longer has tears left to cry. The tears have left "dark rivers" that define the years of his life. Looking back on this he has lost touch with reality and feels that through is own mistakes karma has left him with no other future than pain. He is two people in one, owning his own tears and is no longer afraid to die. "And we won't be here for long The heart collector sings his song that's slowly boiling over" He sings to himself that through suicide life will not last much longer for either personality. He is the heart collector for the fact that time and time again he has tried to bond with the hearts of others (most likely through meaningless sexual relationships) only to keep fragments of these hearts left over from every failed attempt. This song of failure throughout life has enraged him and is "boiling over". "Nevermore to feel the pain The heart collector sang And I won't be feeling hollow for so long Nevermore to feel the pain The words fall out like fire Just believe when you can't believe anymore" The pain will no longer be felt after the song of suicide is sung. The hollowness of living will no longer aile this person. The words burn like fire and it hurts to say it, but beleive in suicide when you cannot believe in life anymore. "The stage is empty now I hope we hold and cannot allow The corrupt eclectic takes his fatal bow" This play of life no longer has an actor, therefore the stage is empty. He holds life in his hands but can not allow it. This person has thought on various sources and corrupted his mind still to find the only solution is to take the "fatal bow" and end his life. "And we won't be here for long The heart collector sings his song again" Again, the only answer is suicide. |
