Actually, I think that line is talking about academic politics. When research is published that goes against a field's hegemonic discourse the tendency is to heavily attack it or even dismiss it, especially if it's coming from a relatively unknown researcher. "I've got ideas too" may be Greg saying: look, just because you all think you have found the answer doesn't mean its right. Science is a never ending process of discovery and shouldn't resemble dogmatic religions so. |

I agree with TimProject. He talks about what he finds depressing about people and brings in a little hope towards the ends. He then finally ends the song with a challenge. He says "my eyes are wide open, my heart is wide open, is your mind wide open to see?" He is challenging anyone who pretends to care to "stand and be heard." "would YOU give up everything to make one lasting point?" However, the title suggests that he doesn't believe anyone cares enough and thus, he is misanthropic. |
