| I stand corrected. You're a great songwriter Will, keep up the good work. Do you have an official website? | |

The likeness to Sufjan really rings clear on this song. At least in the instruments, the vocals and lyrics themselves I feel are no where near as robust. All comparisons aside, this song has a very interesting mood shift from the first lines to the last. He is willing to do anything he can for her, unless it has to do with their future. When the strings come in after "I never knew it all" it feels as though the his own words have finally sunk in. Even when you know you have to break it off with someone, there is always that sadness that the violins embody. |

There's another version of this song labeled the "Rogue Version on the album Ten Years of Tears. The lyrics are slightly different, this is the best I could make them out: If once the words were lovers now they're ugly violent thugs how did our language get so basic we speak in grunts and sighs and shrugs when it used to be we'd never let our spare time go to waste but now i'm just a fuckin bully and you're so bored you're always chaste and i wonder when it was when you decided i was vile i've tried and tried to talk but talkings never been your style and every night a taxi softly sneaks you up our street you used to say you broke your mobile but you dont care if you're descreet (If there's no hope for use then there's no hope for anyone) do you remember You weren't wearing much of note Just hold-ups and your long white coat electric fire lit up your skin as we whipsered because your mum was in And then we went to use the phone We noticed that we weren't alone We shrugged and let the pervert see What he could only hope to be If there's no hope for use then there's no hope for anyone What chance can they have if even you and me can't have fun? Was it so long ago our friends called us disgraceful But could they ever know that we could be so unfaithful That's me, I'm all packed you know I need some time to think you keep what you need, I think we both need a drink The secrets I keep, I keep cause I care But there's no hope left for us, so let's just leave it there. I like this version better than the original song found on The Last Romance. |
