It's about a girl who's walled herself off..for whatever reasons it may be..maybe she thinks he's too good for her and he deserves better so she pushing him away..or maybe she's losing interest and doesn't want to drag this out anymore. Whatever the reason he was fighting to keep their relationship intact for a long time. Now he's coming to grips with reality in the sense that there's nothing he can do and that time is only solution that will tell what her frequent emotional changes are going to reveal..whether she still wants/needs him or not. In my own experiences, when a girl feels like this, she'll make it clear that you shouldn't wait for her and will do everything to ensure that you move on..because she doesn't want to hurt the good times of the past by wrecking everything by being selfish in the present. It's scary and dehabilitating when you lose someone you've grown so dependant/attached on. It can leave a hole in yur life where they used to be and probably would take months...maybe years to get over..or sometimes you'll never get over it but you'll get used to it. I've been here before. |

I think it's about losing something or someone that holds a strong value in your life. In this case..it seems like it's a relationship. I think he's already gotten the girl and he's on top of the world..only thing left is to lose her. You let that thought consume you..you might end up understanding the lyrics in this song. |

Could be about conspiracy theories and such. I dunno much about those things but it is an interesting point of view. But this song hits..hits more on a personal level to me. Went out with a girl for 8 months and I fell for her but she wasn't sure about what she wanted from the relationship and her life. She says she still has feelings but broke up because she felt her uncertainty about the future and what would happen would have a good chance of both of us getting hurt. She wants to be friends but I can't help feel that those feelings she has are going to eventually go away. With that..the many great calls we share in the nights and the magic that was there that made me look at everything with colours. The attachment and my feelings for her make it hard to abandon her..I don't know where we'll go from here and when all odds are stacked against me I'm goin with it. That's courage..maybe stupidity. I feel this song. I definately feel this song. |

This song is so sad that when a similar situation to sunny's happened to me..I couldn't even stand listening to this. Its very powerful! It's about a man and woman having to end their relationship due to circumstances that were beyond their control..and he still misses her cause he just can't get over the fact that it was so meant to be...what the hell happened? Ya know? It'd be nice to know that someone your missing misses you the same way..who'll ever know. And thats what this song is about. |

A girl I met in the summer...we hit it off and I had the privilage of being with her for 3 short but amazing weeks. Things fell into place..at the right time at the right place with the right people. She was beautiful..but she lived in France and she had to go back. We settled as friends but I knew deep inside she still thought about things months after she left. This song reminds me of how I felt back then. Painful but beautiful. |

Maybe its about a relationship between a boy and a girl that was good but some circumstance forced them to split...perhaps she had to move far away for college or work or just because her family is moving. This song could be about false hopes...he presents to her that he wants to go wherever she is going to hide from the truth...that deep inside he knows he will have to let her go...and it will burn like hell. Whatever this song means...from the tone of the music...I get a very melancholy vibe. There's nothing happy about it. |

I'd say...she's singing from her perspective first of all. She's going through some unfinished things from her past...loose ends...that carry into her new current situation. She likes this new person but is still not ready to commit...and she needs time. She wont understand how to fix herself if she gets blinded by this new relationship....and she'll hurt his new person the same way. I think that last part of the song... Doesnt it scare your...your will isnt as strong as it used to be... Indicates the two left on conditions that were out of their control an they missed eachother...mutually it was like this....and mayer began to realize things were changing...she was beginning to move on...and it sparked an array of insecure emotions in the form of this song. |
