No, I agree with the depression hypothesis. If he was referring to drugs of abuse he would have used something other than Valium. Think of a confused and lonely teenager (adults go through it too, but it's easier to visualize an adolescent) who wants to be understood and loved for who he/she is, but all anyone else cares about is their own comfort level. "Take some Valium" they say, "we like you better when you're on psychotropics because you're a different person, better." But they don't understand, nor do they care, that the drugs don't stop the pain. Heaven forbid the "drop the bomb" reference be predicting another campus/workplace shooting. That seems a little violent for Blunt's imagination, but who knows. |

| I think it could be about a man who has cheated on his wife/lover and regrets it deeply. Once he saw what he was doing he set off to cut himself (off from the affair), but not before he realized that he is not the faithful man he wants to be. He now begs for reasons to break it off, but not the choice. The falling stars represent his infidelity. He's very troubled by the choices he's made. | |
