i feel that this song is a sort of "fuck you" to the music industry ("you're never gonna pull it off you shouldnt even try") and to the current catch 22 lineup ("You say i'm full of shit, That i'm a hypocrite I shouldn't talk, when i can't take the advice that i give? Well maybe you're right, but open your eyes: the main difference here is that i try, try,") i dont know. thats just my interpretation. |

| i tear up every time i hear this song. it describes a situation so perfectly. a mother is diagnosed with cancer and never got to do the things she wanted to do and wants her children to be able to do the things she never could | |
| Streetlight Manifesto – The Saddest Song Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| im not sure if anyone else has realized this but some parts of the melody in this song match up with an instrumental song in the great dictator with charles chaplain. in the movie chaplain plays herr hinkel, who is meant to be seen as adolf hitler during WWII. the scene where the song is played is a scene in which hinkel is playing with a globe and plotting world domination. when the inflatable globe pops hinkel seems devasted. because of this i interpret this song to be about adolf hitler and his ignorance ("but you cant think of anything that you change"). ive noticed a lot of cool references in streetilight manifesto songs (bob dylan in the big sleep, a lot of influential people in heres to life etc) and they are one of my favorite bands | |
