| Morrissey – Seasick, Yet Still Docked Lyrics
| 16 years ago

This is one of Morrissey's most beautiful songs in my opinion, an unusually simplistic approach for the man, just a few rhyming couplets, but works to great effect. The juxtaposition of this and "I Know It's Gonna Happen Someday" defines Morrissey in my eyes.
For me its about the realisation that you are not to be happy, the things you so desperately seek are so far from you, unobtainable, and the sadness this brings. The title has always fascinated me, "Seasick, Yet Still Docked"...my interpretation of the title is that he is sick of life, wore down by its constant disapointments and lows, but still alive and keeping on, powering through (docked). Beautifully tragic, but not without hope if you listen to this with the next track on the album |

the whole "just a little luxury" thing about the pills seems very sarcastic and patronising to "the doctor", like he says it in a proper scathing tone. mint song, another verve song about absoloutely anything, everything, time, depression and euphoria |

again, morons jump to the conclusion that because morrissey talks about race, he is therefore "racist". For me, this is very patronising and mocking of the racist mentality, as is "national front disco", and is more warning the person the song speaks to to strongly avoid coming to England and to shelve plans on account of England being not the hopeful land its cracked up to be. Also, the whole "life is hard enough when you belong here" thing is misinterpreted regularly, i believe that the "belonging" idea is more to do with fitting in personally less than fitting in due to your race, its more bout being an outcast and odd or sumat like that. But of course, silly PC organisations will assault Morrissey with any name they can do because of songs like this and the misquote laden and innacuracy riddled current NME interview of such controversy |

for me, its sorta about wanting to get something out of life and a horrible fear of growing old all alone, having nobody there for you and never leaving the town you live and loathe. a brilliant song, lyrically one of noels best. similar sentiment to a lot of the b-sides and raraties, e.g. talk tonight and notably sad song |

this song for me is bout consequence, happening, fate, existance, life, living, why, how, all of that, and denouncing it saying that its all part of a masterplan of which we can never understand and that all we know is that we dont know what is round the corner so we must live for the day, in true poetic style, carpe diem. this song is beautiful, to be honest. noels finest work |

| Oasis – D'Yer Wanna Be a Spaceman? Lyrics
| 18 years ago

|
this very underrated track is, seemingly, about dreams changing as you grow older and mellow, or rather the dreams getting beaten out of you by the humdrum harsheties of everyday life, similar sentiment to "fade away" really but with a slight amount more optimism and lack or caring, for example : if you wanna be a spaceman its still not too late |

this appears to be about a romance that was great but then they split up and then, later on down the line, they ended up kissing and, maybe they both have other lovers at that time, it causes a lot of frustration and doubt |

amazing lyrically. About the end of a relationship, less the break up more the events leading up to the break up. If you put this song on then "Do me a favour" on after it, it fits perfectly. |

| The Libertines – Music When The Lights Go Out Lyrics

there is video evidence that this was written/performed as long ago as 1999, but I reckon that when it was used in The Libertines second album it took on a new meaning, fitting to songs such as "Last Post on the Bugle" and obviously "Can't Stand Me Now" to be symbolic for the break up of Pete and Carl's relationship. During the recording this song, it was the only occasion in the studio when Pete and Carl actually had a full on argument and fight. Quite sad really. It was probably wrote about a girl in the first instance. Either way a beautiful song. |
