Nikola Tesla was an inventor born in (or around) 1856. He had worked for Thomas Edison for a while. He was denied a certain amount of pay, so he quit and started his own company. He invented many amazing things such as wireless electricity, but people thought he was crazy and it never took off. He spent all of his money on his experiments and nearly nobody listened to him. As a result he died "penniless" and not many people know of him.
